Topic: "Eye Toy" The new and exciting product?

Maybe some of you have or haven't seen Sony's new "Eye Toy" it's basically a camera that hooks up to the ps2 so you can have your face in a video game. Well maybe Nintendo is making a copycat of this item and that is their new and exciting product. It sounds like a pretty cool idea and I know Nintendo would have some really good ideas with incourporating this into their games. What do you guys think?

Nintendo did that first with the GB Camera.  You were supposed to be able to put your face on the characters in Perfect Dark, but it was causing the game to crash, so it was cut at the last minute.

From what I saw in the stores, the Eye Toy is just that - a toy. It's like all those failed Gamepads MS produced that never really took off. I guess there won't be one for PS3 or any other console.

The camera if it is included into the console should track the gamers' facial expressions so that the character (Mario) makes the faces.  It could also be used as a short cut for tracking the gamers' hands in VR.

i heard both reasons, regarding the face mapping in Perfect Dark. the crashes were frustraiting and the social and moral implications caused rare to scrap the idea all togeather?

i made all my friends for half-life... even piac(in my bond vid). I use the chaacter models so not to kill my friends. I kill anyone in the game who doesnt look like my friends and they do likewise. We are a good team.

well, can't you say the same thing about the faces on the guards you kill in GE and PD?
If you look in the mulitplayer in PD, there's a facemap of Miyamoto!

Is this a sort of subliminal  message that Rare were gonna leave?

 Eye-Toy = hotcake product. Not because it is a huge revolution, but because it is easy to play, and can be played by anyone with two arms (or one). I could find many a fault with it, but I'll just say its good and bad to see simple games reaching mainstream audiences, and not hearing the fanboys crying out that they have the greatest game ever.

As for the GB Camera and PD, I didn't hear about the crashing problems. I'm pretty sure that Rare could have found a way around the problem. I believe they pulled the idea because the game was reaching final development just after the Columbine shootings, whenever that was, and they thought it was a smart idea to avoid criticism (and we all know that all violence is caused by games, NOT!!!) and just take that feature out.
It's a shame that society likes to go on witch-hunts to solve their problems.

What?  That's ridiculous.  Why do ugly-@ss pimply nerds want their pictures in video games?  That's just dumb.

It's nothing to do with eye candy, Hostile.
It's to do with blasting the bejesus out of your mates and laughing at them. Seeing their face makes it easier to identify them, and makes it more personal, or something.
I would have loved to see the face feature. Not taking it seriously, of course.

Eye-Toy=A cheap gimmik Sega thought of two years earlier with it's own "DreamEye."

The perfect device for people that can't play games and just want to waste time.

Also call me soft hearted, but I don't want to kill digital images of my closest friends.  They are after all, my friends.   There's something strange about it.  

Still, I got to hand it to the guy who said he was killing Matt from IGN, that guy is such a douche!
