High Heat Baseball bought by MS
« on: August 17, 2003, 05:35:53 AM »
Too bad Nintendo did not do something here.  Nintendo does not look agressive as MS is.  Makes me wonder why.  They have this huge amount of money saved away, but they dont seem to use it.

I agree. I wanted Nintendo to buy The 4 Horsemen of Apocalypse game actually.... a good mature adult AAA type game. Just what Nintendo needs

Probally because out of all the genres that are on Nintendo's systems Sports titles historic sell like like last week soiled diapers.

And on a personal note do you really think High Heat will have the same feel to it now that Microsoft has the rights to it. (They bought it to get some type of name for their sports lines.)
Stupidity is lost on my. Then again I'm almost always lost.

In the article I read they said they didn't know who got the 4 hoursmen name.  Is it still up in the air?

Ubi Soft bought Might and Magic, Namco bought SRS, and Microsoft bought HHB, i dont think 4 Horsemen has been bought yet. Still it looked real good before 3D0 went bankrupt..

Deos anyone know why Nintendo did nothing here?  It is like they are letting MS buy all these companies (Rare, etc.) on purpose.  Some rumors about a joint MS-N game console.  I doubt it, but there must be a reason Nintendo is just sitting back.  High Heat Baseball is one of the best baseball games.   The Cube has 0 now (I think?).

Nintendo has Midways Slugfest and Acclaims ASB....  anyways Iwata said they wouldnt aqquire a new company recently, but getting the 4 Horsemen game would make sooo much sense.

Nintendo decided to let Rare go because of their lack of sales for Nintendo, Microsoft just happened to pick them up.  They could have just as easily went third party or be bought by Sony.  Nintendo didn't let Microsoft buy High Heat.  It's obvious Nintendo just doesn't think sports should be a major part of their first and second party lineup.  Stop making this out to be some huge conspiracy theory.

yeah, but thats wrong though. The current crop of mainstream gamer, loves their sports games  and thus buys the consoles.

Exactly Perfect Cell.  I love my sport games.  And sadly the Cube is lacking, though football is in good hands with EA.

Nintendo had an exclusive baseball game (Ken Griffey Jr. something or other) and basketball game (NBA Courtside) on the N64. Courtside even carried over to the GC for a year. I'm guessing these games didn't sell, so Nintendo discontinued the franchises and now wants nothing to do with sports games.

They've got Madden. And really, that's all you need.
