Resident Evil 4 = 3 Discs

Whoa. Three discs! THREE DISCS! How awesome is that, i cant wait for this game. The other ones were only multiple disks because the prerendered backgrounds took up so much space, but now its fully 3D, which means this game is going to be huge!

My frothing demand for this game increases! Resident Evil 4 will own everyone.

That's really strange- REbirth and RE:0 were so large because of the pre-rendered backrounds, but we know RE4 is realtime. Even if it did have a multitude of FMV cutscenes, they have DivX to compress them. And it's not like they need FMV cutscenes- the in game stuff is amazing as it is. It can't be pure gameplay, either, because even an uncompressed game spanning 3 GOD's would be uncountless hours of play time. Makes me wonder what they're filling those discs with.

Maybe they don't want the ugly graininess that Eternal Darkness had.

the director keeps saying its pee your pants scary- i hope it is
resident evil was one of the more scary games out there, but the silent hill series has always scared me a lot
but yeah i wouldnt doubt RE4 being 3 disks long at all- the graphics are amazing and everything is highly detaled
i cant wait to really see this game in action and see if it lives up to the hype everyone is giving it

You can't spell ignorant without IGN.

As for the 3 disc Resident Evil 4...  I am in shock.  I cannot even begin to guess what all that space is being used for.  They might have a whole lot of video footage for developer interviews, or for bonus features or something.  But that much space should not be needed for a straight 3D graphics game.  It's insane...

I am REALLY looking forward to this game now.  That's like 4.5 GB of space...

If it is in fact 3 disc's then it goes to show that Capcom is putting a lot of faith in GCN owners and RE fans to buy this game.  All I hope for is the end of the old archaic control scheme and bring back the what ever direction you push on the control stick moved you in the direction.

3d dosent equal exactly bigger.  But i would guess it would be the textures  seeing as you have to look at things from more than one angle now.

"aybe they don't want the ugly graininess that Eternal Darkness had."

Eternal Darkness was released before Factor 5 brought out the DivX technology. Besides, I thought the graininess gave ED kind of an old lcassic horror movie look.

"But i would guess it would be the textures seeing as you have to look at things from more than one angle now. "

Textures don't take up gigabytes of space, though. This is indeed a mystery- I'm hoping it's something good.

Yeah talking to Piac on IRC.....man he gets freaked out over nothing . Back in the day Resident Evil 2 used to scare me....now its so dated looking its laughable. And Eternal Darlkness scared me the day it came out...but then i had to switch to a room without surround sound. Well i v conquered the game and no like everything. Im more comfortable there then i am in my living room at night.

The first time in Eternal Darkness when Alex's dead body jumped out of the bathtub, I screamed out loud. The rest of ED is mostly just eery, while RE is plain scary with zombies grabbing you from closets and such. Especially when you're playing at 1 with the lights off.

Please tell me they'll keep the $50 price...

but it is great to hear this news. I hope PGC or IGN will have an article explaining exactly why we have 3 discs. (If they even know why)

ed scared me- play the game at night no lights with full surround sound- now thats scary
i always jumped up when you are investigating the mansion and the knocking and banging starts to happen

RE has its moments- i remember RE2 when the licker jumped through the interrigation room glass- that scared me to all hell

i cant wait for RE4- it should prove to be a great game with good scares

Sign me up for the wuss club.  I rented REmake and only got through about 5 rooms and totally depleting my ammo before dying and giving up.  Fortunately my friend paid a visit and sat down for several hours to completely beat it for me while I watched.  We had to bring the pizza to him, come dinner time.   He had everything so well memorized.  Unfortunately he was so cocky about not saving that when he actually did die, we lost about an hour or so of progress.

So have you guys seen the TGS trailer?  It is REALLY good.  I would highly advise giving it a watch.  There's not a whole lot of new stuff, but it's a lot faster paced than the other trailers, and shows a lot more of what Mikami is going for in terms of atmosphere.

They should port it to the PC by means of 6000  1.44 mb floppy disks.
