"and who uses the word 'coke' for any soft drink? that smells! hello KFC person, can i have a COKE! *KFC person gives customer mountain dew* thanks! weird americans"

Meh, we're more split than that. Half the country calls it pop, half calls it soda, and people in the south label any carbonated soft drink as Coke. In general, I call soft drinks soda, but if I want something specific, I'll call it by the name.

because CocaCola has such a grip on the resturaunts and fast food places..i usually ask for Coke...most places have Coke. They correct me if they have Pepsi. Which is fine because i prefer Pepsi to Coke. But when are they going to come out with Pepsicain?

Actually, I believe restaurants are required by law to ask if Pepsi is okay if you ask for Coca Cola (and vice versa). Contrary to popular belief, you CAN tell the difference, and pretty easily as well. I like Coke better, but just a little.

yeah it depends on what you prefer....Coke is a bit more acidic with more bite ...Pepsi is a bit Smoother and Sweeter. I like both but Pepsi to me is alot better. However Vanilla Coke is awesome...it takes that acid flavor coke has and smooths it over..and ads some more flavor..though it sometimes it gets old after a while. And it has to be cooled just right. if it is too warm it is nasty.

Vanilla Coke is disgusting hot- it and lemon-lime sodas (Sprite, Sierra Mist, 7UP) are the onyls ones I refuse to drink hot. Anything else I don't really care, although I prefer it cold.

BTW, that was some pretty good l337/h4xx0r- did you type it up yourself or use a translator?

Speaking of which, you can have Google translate itself into l337- it's hilarious.

Vanilla Coke is one of the grossest pops ever made.

My drink of choice is the good old Cherry Coke.    When a place doesn't serve Coke products, I will usually opt for a Dr. Pepper, as I really don't like most Pepsi products.

i've never heard anyone refer to drinks/soda/pop in general as "Coke". When i lived in Michigan, it was called "pop". Down here in North Carolina, it's "soda" or "drink". "Drink" is of course ambiguous. When my dad visited from Michigan and my granddad offered him a "drink", Dad thought he meant a beer.

Funny thing about Coke is, i used to not like it. A few years ago i'd get a drink in honor of my friend (she didn't die; we just lost contact) because she loved the stuff. Now i can't stop drinking it. i've noticed that certain vending machines taste differently. The one at the local Wal-mart is the best; forty cents a can and it has a very slight spice (cinnamony) flavor. i don't really care for cherry or vanilla coke though, except as something different.

lemon pepsi and lemon coke are not so great...though i love addign a slice of lemon to them..the artificially flavored stuff that pepsi and coke produce are nasty......Vanilla Coke is great...but it has to be cooled just right(near freezing or maybe perhaps on the slushy side) or else it is downright nasty. I never drink warm soda....added ice kills the flavor(well in pepsi...coke tastes better with ice)...but having my drinks near freezing is my preferece. Cherry Coke is better then Cherry pepsi..the bite of coke enhances hte chery flavor....but there really isnt a great of difference. just dont drink cherry pepsi with ice...ugh

Also awesome Kiwi flavored Shasta

dr. pepper is the only doctor i trust

also if youve ever been to Mexico youll notice Soda tastes 10x better....
they use cane sugar.....not cheap sugar...not High Fructose Corn Syrup...good damn Cane Sugar.....

In Georgia we always called Soft Drinks Soda...here in Arizona its the same...but over in Idaho and Minnesota where my relatives are from the call it pop. And i think Drinks is a very vague term.....you drink everything. Beverages is jsut too big a word...drinks is more rustic.

also to you foreigners youd be really suprised at the huge regional differences withinside the States.....iv been to all corners of the Country and some people are just plain different. Moving aroudn iv gone into culture shock a few times.

I like lemon Coke and lemon Pepsi- it gives it a little more of a bit than normal. I HATE ice in soda- once it melts the whole thing is watered down and tastes flat. I love Cherry Coke, but for some reason I always feel sick after I drink it. I prefer Cherry Pepsi a little more. Dr. Pepper's great, but I don't like it all the time. It's definitely much different than anything else, though, which is good in a world of formality.

I've noticed sodas in France and Italy taste better, too (my grandparents took me to Europe ). Funny how there's so many health food out in America and yet obesity is still an epidemic.

"also to you foreigners youd be really suprised at the huge regional differences withinside the States.....iv been to all corners of the Country and some people are just plain different."

Couldn't be more true. It's liking going between different countries, sometimes, visiting different states, even neighboring ones. It's crazy.

Tell me about it- I was born in South Dakota, moved to California, moved to Okinawa, Japan, then moved to Kansas- THERE'S culture shock for you.

Perm, you never answered me- did you write that l337 yourself or use a translator?

I prefer Coke, Pepsi leaves a film and aftertaste in my mouth.  I drink Dr. Pepper, or Mr. Pibb whatever is available.  I love rootbeer, warm or cold, (well any soda pop warm or cold) My family thinks I'm weird for that, I hate ice in anything too.

Well, high fructose corn syrup is a sweetner made from corn (as the name would imply). Pure cane sugar is just straight sugar, no complicated stuff, and tastes much better.

Military. My dad actually decided on going to Kansas, specifically near Wichita, because Boeing, Cessna, and Raytheon all have major branches hear and he was an Air Force pilot for 22 years. He's been retired for about 3 years now and works at Raytheon teaching people how to fly business jets.

There's definite progression when it comes to sugars. From least refined to most refined is raw sugar, turbinado sugar, brown sugar, white sugar, powdered sugar,  and confectioner's sugar. The less refined sugars retain the molasses flavor (as well as other flavors) which give them a more distinct flavor than the stuff that sits on most American tables.

Raw sugar comes from either sugar cane or sugar beets; the main difference is the climate that each can grow in. If i remember correctly, it's not available in the US because the FDA deemed it unsafe due to levels of certain impurities. If you've been to a Starbucks you've seen Sugar in the Raw, the biggest name brand turbinado sugar, which is closest to cane sugar as it gets in the US. True brown sugar is a sugar which still has some of the molasses syrup intact, although i've heard that most brown sugar in the US is really white sugar sprayed with molasses. White sugar is the super refined (bleached) sugar we all know and love. Powdered sugar is a step beyond that; it's blended so that it's a powder. Confectioner's sugar goes even further, and adds a bit of corn starch to keep it from clumping. i think corn syrup is made from corn starch, but i'm not sure. There's also fructose, a sugar made from fruit.

When your mom's a health nut, it rubs off. i didn't even touch on the other sweeteners, like date sugar, rice sweeteners, etc. Plus, i used to watch cooking shows and i cook as well, so it's good to know stuff like why you don't confectioner's sugar in drinks. (Answer: There's just enough cornstarch in it to keep it from sticking together and just enough to make drinks taste like chalk.)

its not that the fda thinks that type of sugar is bad....its just soda is usually created in local distillaries....for the local distributer to use other types of sugar they would have to order it from another country...there is a tarriff....and corn syrup is cheaper....thats why on like pepsi it says high fructose corn syrup/and or sugar....it depends on where you get the soda. Iv notivced that in Taco Bell(which serves pepsi as opposed to coke) the Pepsi...is AWESOME...its way sweeter.  They prolly have a different distillary.

and on thta film someone mentioned ealier...i like that film.....makes me feel good.

Where I work, there is a Coke office and a Pepsi office like a minutes drive apart from each other.  I drive by the Coke building on my way to work.

Now there's some more useless information.
