New Jedi Order
« on: July 29, 2003, 12:45:51 PM »
Has anyone else been following this series of Star Wars novels? Personally, I'm loving it- the story arc is great and stands to change a LOT about the Star Wars universe, as was shown right from the beginning in Vector Prime. It's an epicness that the novels haven't experienced for a very long time. I'd strongly reccomend the series (which will be concluded in October, I believe) to any hard core Star Wars fan, although some may be dissapointed.  I've read all of the 17 books released so far except for the Edge of Victory dualogy.

The last Star Wars novel I read was Vision of the Future, by Timothy Zahn. That was his fifth SW novel, i believe.

Zahn was the first person to right a Star Wars novel with his Thrawn trilogy (Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and Last Command). He then wrote the dualogy in which the Imperial Remnant and New Republic make peace (Spectre of the Past and Vision of the Future). He's easily one of my favorite Star Wars authors. My favorite NJO novel so far is Traitor- it's deep philisophical insights into the force were a much needed departure from the same reprocessed stuff SW novels have been feeding us for a long time.

I've read all the NOJ books I could find and now I can't go back the older books. My favourite is definitely Traitor, not just for the insights Vergere gave Jacen, but also for Ganner's "none shall pass".
If the graphics are bad, I'll ignore them.
If the style's been used before, I won't care. I don't get sick of styles.
If the story is weak, I'll make up my own.
I only care about gameplay.
