OMG!! <<check out the three movies for it.

This game is gonna be a Final fantasy killer. The funny thing is i wasn't even interested in it until about a week ago, now its a must have.

well the answer to final fantasy..isl ike fijnal fantasyt....but in name alone of coarse...this game just got a big buzz though

Actually, I see it as more of an answer to Xenosaga.

being the same people and all. Well because the gamecube market isnt flooded by rpgs and because Final Fantasy is more popular the Xenosaga. I would say Loyd Christmas is pretty accurate... if Nintendo really pushed this title on the Cube then it might compete on sales and popularity level against final fantasy. Thats the advantage of a smaller library...it makes some titles seem that much grander. Xenosaga..though i havnt played may be better then final fantsay...but because final fantasy's name is that much more well known...and the ps2 market is flooded with rpgs...it wont do so well. GCN however...wheres the competition?

What's more grander than Xenosaga? Certainly not that big pile of trash that has become Final Fantasy.

well yeah, imagine if xenosaga was on gcn there would be no competition...i hope baten kaitos gets a catchy us name. Certainly if pushed right a lone super caled rpg like xenosaga or BK might push sytems. Similar to how theresa flood of survival horos on ps2 and resident evil moves systems. So many people i know bought a gamecueb for resident evil or are still working to get a gcn and resident evil.

i have really high expectations for this game- the movies look great- the art direction is wonderful
and i really dig the battle system for it- its real time with the cards as your commands
i think if nintendo pushes this game well it could help move gc's off the shelves in japan
i think i read that namco is expecting to ship and sell 500,000 copies at least- those are good expectations
lets hope the demand exceeds expectations and helps get more rpgs on the gc

the same could be said for other games in Mario's hey day, but now hes nowhere near as popular as he was before, nothing lasts forever. final fantasy's time in the sun will come to the end sooner or later.

not really, because skies of arcadia is a port of a dreamcast game, and it hasnt' sold that well, and i doubt it will become a long running series

I think it's cool that we're getting a high-poly, not super-deformed RPG. I mean, those are cool, but if EVERYTHING was super-deformed, then it would be kind of boring. And it looks great... I just wish that the worlds were a little better, they look like they were made with as little polygons as possible. That and the battle system looks awesome!

I really do think this is GameCube's answer to the newer Final Fantasies.

PIAC you've never playeed a FF game? If you have a SNES see if you can pick up Final Fantasy 5. If you cant get any of the SNES versions, get 7 its way better then any of the recent ones IMO.

Actually, I didn't like FF5 that much. I still can't decide whether I like FF4 or FF6 better though.

The newer Final Fantasies (8 - 11) are just plain crap though. Something I scraped off my shoe would be more welcome than those. I do have hope for FF12 though.
