How do you do the transparency thing? I just painted the edges of my avatar with a color that matches the PGC background closest.

Well if you want to make the background transparent and you are using Photoshop, then do this: open the current file you have now(your avatar). Then menu select File/New, then see if the transparent background option is chosen, click OK. Next you select your avatar and do Ctrl+A on it followed by Ctrl+C. Now switch to your new file, and press Ctrl+V. Erase all section of image that you don't want, so that's where transparent background appears. To finish it, you have to save it as .gif. And here is the final result: Avatar with transparent background.

Instead of making a new picture you could just go Layers -> New -> Layer from Background...

im new and i dont know how to get an avatar can someone tell me how?

Sure thing, viewtiful. To get an avatar, you'll need to find a picture you want to use and resize it so that it's 64x64 pixels or under. Then, you need to upload it to an image host (I recommend Photobucket). You'll then have to go into your profile, find the place where you can enter the URL and put your image's URL in there. To get the URL (if you don't know), either right-click on the full-sized image (if it's in a thumbnail gallery, you should have to click on it to get there) and select "Properties". Highlight the URL and then right click and select "Copy". Then, go to your Profile on the PGC forums and paste the URL into the box. If you're using Photobucket, it lists the URL underneath the pictures in the main gallery, so you shouldn't have to do any right clicking or anything.

That should get you up and running.

I recommend Angelfire. It is a really good site. I've used it for quite a while, and am pretty happy with it.

Angelfire goes down alot, and they get rid of people's accounts after a bit unless you pay for them. I used them, and while the support more than images, Photobucket beats the crap out of Angelfire for images...and 50free.net beats everything.

I resized my avatar from the other forum I'm on so I could use it here. It fits in well with my other name (Doppelganger), but not so much with Ghost of a Flea (the painting I got the name from wouldn't make a great avatar). Simple pic, it's just a sketch I did and resized in the computer.

Im using Mozilla Firebird, and yeah the transparency is fine. I just get annoyed by stupid things, sorry.

I would change my avatar, but this one is just so damn cool, heaps better than Lenny. Plus it suits my username.. which kinda makes it hard for me to put Luigi or some other Nintendo character in my avatar, because it wouldn't make sense. *shakes fist at user name*

There are plenty Mario avatars out there. I'm using one right now...of course it's just a guy with mario's face on top of it.
