It's two men lying in bed, one of whom is playing DS and the other is sleeping, presumably tired from a previous activity, or maybe resting up for an activity later.

Bill says it isn't suggestive, although the fact that he says it is from some... "yaoi" comic book or something, to which I had to look up this "yaoi" word and then proceedied to throw chlorine into my eyes.  Apparently its homosexual stuff, which is fine if you are into that, just don't slather it all into the forums.  But it is suggestive by simply the known fact that it is "yaoi" which means homosexual, which means surprise bumsex.  And I find that intensely inappropriate, if not for reasons of taste, for the very possibility that it might start heated political debates, which ALSO are not allowed.

Consider this a formal request to change it, Bill.

Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

I kind of had a feeling that it was what you said it was.  But to be fair it really isn't that bad, but you did state the rule and it's not up to user's to define objectionable.

Bill, grow up.

We should be and really we still are, but I don't think he should abuse that friendship to blur, bend, and twist the rules of the forum he registered for and I moderate.  And let this be an example to those who think I give special treatment to my friends and am overly harsh on those I disfavor (Ian).  It sucks that I had to this, but if there was another person with the same avatar who wasn't Bill, I would have done the same thing, probably also banning him/her in the process.

I am also good friends with Infernal Monkey, and I think he should know that his avatars will be changed if they are cropped pornography images.  I don't care what you have on your harddrive, that's your business, just keep it off of here.  Same goes for the rest of you.

"Bill, grow up."

Oh, this is a laugh...Let's make it look like I'm the only one acting childish, that's fine by me...At least I don't attempt to hide it...

Hahaha, okay...Just so you know, my avatar taste stretches long before I got to know anyone on the PGC/NWR staff...I don't go around asking for "favors," that's just not how I roll...

I agree, but what makes it even harder is that this, to varying degrees, has been going on for longer than I can even remember.

I can't remember any actual acts of mod showing favor to someone over another, so I don't think that you do that, but what I said above still holds true.  This has been going on for a long time and since it's just now being inforced to the degree that it is, that's what makes it hard to accept at face value.  It has been accepted practice, so trying to crack down on it causes these kinds of problems.

Also look at how many people objected to UncleBob's avatar of a nipple, while it was a male nipple and not a female nipple, which would have immediately been flagged by mods as objectionable or offensive.

Now, let's talk about my avatar. =D

No, see, the "favor" in question would be me not having the rules apply to you.

You posted pictures of homosexual men, boys even, playing DS in bed before 2004?  How is that possible?  Sexual Orientation discussion is off limits, period.  It is listed in the general rules for the forum AND the first post in this particular forum.

Can I make an avatar about of this GBA SP ad?

It should be legit because it's heterosexual and a GBA.

Wait, wait... are you serious? I was reading this first, assuming it to all be an act, but really? I mean the "Samus O Suit" avatar was here with no problem, yet there was an issue with the two guys playing the DS?

Please tell me the humor is going over my head, and I'm making myself look foolish with this post.

Well, I know you two are fighting amonst yourselves, before today, the only thing that would fit your description would have been when Bill used a whole array of Briget avatars as his main theme.  I never paid much attention to everything that he used.

But if we are going to now clamp down on sexual orientation topics, then I must nominate this thread, because it clearly talks about the sexual orientation of various video game characters.

QUOTE RAPE TIME.

Quote

Sexual Orientation discussion is off limits, period.

Discussion of sexual orientation is off limits. So, Bill discussed sexual orientation, did he?

Quote

You posted pictures of homosexual men

Oh. So he....posted a picture of people of a certain sexual orientation? And?

Quote

it is suggestive

ah. Why's that?

Quote

by simply the known fact that it is "yaoi" which means homosexual, which means surprise bumsex.

So, the picture of the homosexuals is suggestive because....they're homosexuals. Okay. So, we've got a "suggestive" picture of homosexuals, what's wrong with that?

Quote

I find that intensely inappropriate, if not for reasons of taste, for the very possibility that it might start heated political debates, which ALSO are not allowed.

So...it's inappropriate because it might start heated political debates?

...

Bullsh*t. A picture of a homosexual could start a political debate, sure. Anything's possible. But then, a picture of a Jewish person could start a religious debate, couldn't it? Those are against the rules too, right? Religious debates?

As for sexual suggestiveness - look around. It's everywhere. Have you seen all the zero suit samus avatars (edit: ah, arbok beat me to it)? And I'm not even talking about the one really explicit one - I'm talking about all of them. Each and every one is a billion times more sexually suggestive than Bill's picture of two people laying in bed, fully clothed, playing DS. Look at Bill's previous avatars - yes, as he says, he's been using moderately suggestive avatars for years. You probably didn't notice because, up til now, none of them showed you anything that you feared (that was me calling you a homophobe.)

Don't get me wrong! I respect the rules, and the job that the mods do. I've seen unmoderated forums and they aren't fun. I don't want a place where people have 500 by 500 animated gifs featuring hardcore porn as avatars. But I also don't want a place where insidious prejudices are allowed to stand because they happen to belong to people with authority.

Hey guys, using examples of the rules not being enforced beforehand is no way to excuse rule-breaking behavior now.

I am well aware of certain avatars which push the boundaries before, such as the Zero suit Samus, but considering my computer was totally busted for about 2 months meant I couldn't do jack all about it.

Listen, there is a reason I got angry and flew off the handle, rightfully so, as I check this thread and see no less than 4 rule violations in the span of a week of posts.  If fact you guys should probably be thankful it was me who got irked instead of one of our more draconian mods, who would throw out bans like candy.

We have to keep a respectable level here, if only to please those faceless masses who surf the boards.  I'm not saying we all have to be Mickey Mouse and Family-Friendly Lollipops here, but we shouldn't end up causing some 10-year-old to ask his parents why Link is french-kissing Dark Link or why this nude woman is covered in strange grass (Requiem, you knew better than that), or the different levels of sexuality pertaining to an admittedly relatively tame avatar of Bill's.  It's not a hornet's nest I nor the rest of the mods ever want to stir up, not matter what our views are on homosexual rights (I'm for most of them).  Like Political discussion, all it will do is get everybody intensely angry at each other and nothing will get solved, and this really isn't the forum to solve it in anyway.

I'm going to be doing a lot more active modding now, considering my computer is fixed, so please be sure to PM me with any concerns.

And... Sorry if I seemed a little abrasive.

I just wanted to let ya'll know that my avatar in no way is meant to showcase the PS3.

Rather to show it's disgusting size. The thing is bigger than my desktop and costs more. It's awful.
Silly monkeys; give them thumbs they make a club and beat their brother down. How they survive so misguided is a mystery. Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an a eye to heaven conscious of his fleeting time here.
