Games with "2 players simultaneous"

I just got a GameCube and am looking for the best games that 2 people can play at once. I want games I can play with my wife or friends, nothing too intense or serious. I'm thinking about getting SSBM and Super Monkey Ball 2. Any other suggestions?

the new mario golf game is coming out soon (at the end of this month i think) and should be a lot of fun
super smash brothers is a very good choice as is monkey ball
the ea sports games are all very good too  (madden, ncaa football, tiger woods pga, ect...)

i know Timesplitters 2 has co-op mode (2 players at once working together) which I think is what you want.  I f you just want a plain multilayer, there are a TON of games to choose from.  Try to find something that fits what you like.  If you like racing, Burnout 2 and Waverace are good, and Kirby's Air Ride, F-zero GX and Mario Kart: Double Dash!! are coming soon.  Almost all FPS have a multiplayer mode (except Metroid Prime), and there's always any of the sports games.  Good party games are Mario Party (any one), Super Smash Bros, and Monkey Ball.

You should DEFINITLY get Smash Bros and Monkey Ball 1 AND 2. Mario Part 4 was really fun too but you might want to wait for Mario Part 5 which is supposed to be out this December.
Most of the best 2-4 player simultaneous games are yet to come though.

~ 1080 Snowboarding
~ Nintendo Puzzle Collection
~ Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (the multiplayer is supposably amazing, but it requires GBAs)
~ Zelda Four Swords (also requires GBAs)

Then, of course, there's the undisputed God of multiplayer, Mario Kart, coming this Fall.

try ikaruga...it's a light-hearted game that is easy to adopt to.  requires little to no concentration.

(please note the sarcasm; i'd feel bad if you dropped $40 on this game expecting something you could easily pick up.)

but the game does have a pretty darn cool co-op mode.

Ikaruga was fun in CO-OP but the 3rd and 4th chapter are troublesome especially 3rd for co-op especially with all those moving walls and all those obsticals 4th is just a pain.

Isn't Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee a multi-player game?  I haven't played it but have heard a lot of good things about it.  Time Splitters 2 has a good co-op mode.  Smash Bros, Wave Race, Mario Party4.  For upcoming games try Mario Kart, Mario Golf, Soul Calibur II, F-Zero GX, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, Kirby's Air Ride, Pikmin, 1080 Avalanche.  There are also sports games but I'll let the guys tell you which ones are the best.

Yeah, I think Godzilla is a 4-player game. SSX Tricky is also an extremely fun game, if you like snowboarding. Here's all the multiplayer games I have:
SSX (duh)
TimeSplitters 2
Smash Bros Melee (a must have for multiplayer)
super monkey ball (about the easiest controls in the world)
Tony Hawk 3
Wave Race
Simpsons Road Rage (okay, I didn't buy it, but it's still pretty fun, your wife might like it)
Animal Crossing (not simultaneous, but still something 4 people could get in on)
Beach Spikers

Also, don't forget the best review system you could find...rentals. Other than that, pretty much every other game that was listed here should be sufficient Also, I have to say that PGC has the BEST and most HONEST game reviews I've seen. Take a look at their review page and you should get some excellent info on almost every game out there for the cube. Best of luck, my friend!

is super smash brothers melee a good game for single player because many of my friends have been saying that it gets boring after a while even if you have not gotten all the trophies is it worth the buy ? well i know it will be fun for multiplayer but for single is it good?

i liked smash bros 64 when i played it multiplayer
so i rented smash bros melee and played alone and didn't like it

if you want a game for multiplayer, both cooperative and against
that is simple enough for non gamers to play
beach spikers is top of the list there

it's not very fun alone though

I really like the single player, especially since there are so many modes and unlockables and such. I got 40 or so hours in just the single player.

did you unlock every single trophy because i read that it has over 300 trophies and challenges  to unlock

it has 290 trophies, 291 in japan i think.

i only have 280 :\ and now im bored with it, as i dont have any friends in this city yet, so i dont play it, i think SSB:M is boring for single, awsome for mulltiplayer

Timesplitters 2 is an okay coop game. Theres nothing really wrong with it, its just not as remarkable as most sites claim. Its just a 2nd player dropped into a 1 player game.

Ninja Turtles is comming out soon, I wish that Konami would spend the extra development time to add a 4 player mode, so all I can really reccomend is a rent.

Mystic Heroes doesnt have a real cooperative mode, but there is one that acts like one, but its more of a competition. Its rated T, and it may be a hard find, but this game is best when played with a friend or 3.

LOTR:ROTK will be out in a couple months that will have 2 player. Something that The Two Towers should of had.
