If Mother 3 was ever brought over it'd be eShop exclusive anyway which would allow for less censorship then what Mother 1 and 2 got.  People have to remember the version of Mother 1 on the eShop is the english translation Nintendo made back in the early 90's when they planned on a actual retail release, that they've had in their vault for over 20 years now.  Same with Mother 2 being the original version from the 90's as well when NOA was more censor happy.

Plus the Fire Emblem games have more controversial content then Mother 3 and yet we keep getting those released.  Yeah there's still some censorship like Tharja's ass in the Awakening DLC and they've toned down some of the more perverted dialogue, but the main storyline and characters are still there.  People need to stop acting like Mother 3 is some extremely controversial game that would have to be butchered horribly to be released here when much of the content in it is no different from other games NOA has already released at retail in America.

Just the existence of okamas in that game (they're main characters) is more than enough for Nintendo to not bring it over to this puritan, prudish nation.  One angry letter from an overly protective parent (or hundreds, however you look at it) is something NoA seriously wants to avoid, apparently.

The Zelda series has had okama characters in almost every game released in the last decade and yet they're still released in America.  Hell, the most recent Zelda on the 3DS even allows Link to crossdress by not only wearing a dress but even dress as a chearleader complete with a short skirt.  And yet Nintendo still advertised the game on Disney and Cartoon Network, channels aimed at kids.

Just because they've recently been removing skimpy outfits on underage girls doesn't mean NOA is a prudish as people seem to think.

Okay, yeah sure. There are far worse games then Mother 3 out there in terms of content that children play. You think parents give a **** anymore? Please. Just because it is from Nintendo it is expected to be different? Then they would have received letters for the Bayonetta release. Even if they did get hate mail, they can safely ignore it. Hardly anybody nowadays have the conviction to boycott.

It's impossible to know what to attribute to Reggie and what not - but I get the impression he had slightly more control in the GCN-era and was blamed for the total lack of success in the US along with "allowing" Microsoft to gain such a significant marketshare in their first generation.  That's just my guess though.

This is possible - I wasn't really going back far enough (didn't own a GameCube at that point), and maybe getting blamed for poor sales of that console affected how he handled things later.

Also it's a really good point that it's hard to know who really makes decisions - who deserves blame for choices we don't like, or credit for choices we do.  Reggie is just the pinata I point to when things aren't what I want... and for a bunch of years it feels like NoA has been doing a poor job now (relative to Japan or Europe).

GameCube was a hard sell though when both of your competitors had DVD play back when DVD was the hot new thing and your machine had those weird mini discs and a handle that made it look like a toy. I wouldn't blame Reggie for any of that, he didn't design the console how do you market a console with poor design but amazing games they did the best they could focusing entirely on the games. If there is one thing I would point to he might have done better, or NOA anyways, would have been fighting to get those network adapters in more stores and fighting to get some online added, at least in NA, for those games that people expected to have it. He Xbox came out guns blazing with their Live and took the whole world by storm.

NOA has always been behind the times though, I remember people complaining during the SNES days Japan had games we didn't and they always did neat stuff like game downloads, really cool you promotions and the like. It seems like in America they just kind of treat it like "here is our product now buy it or not we don't care."

Since you clearly have all this insight, please by all means explain why Nintendo removed the boob slider from Xenoblade Chronicles X?  Surely, we can't have anyone offended by something so ridiculously minor!

Iirc, the boob slider was also taken out in the EU release as well. So it isn't because of "overbearing puritanical American parents" like you trying to lead to believe. Maybe, just maybe, it was a stupid decision on Nintendo's part. Shocking I know. They rarely make those.

I never claimed to have all the insight. I will claim to say that you are overreacting which was my point.

Yeah the funny thing is, Europe is probably the main reason for the Boob Slider being removed.  In some places in Europe, it's illegal to have porn of flat or small breasted women, because pedophiles might use it as a substitute for the real thing even though the women in these porno's are of legal age.  I imagine NOE had a huge problem with the game allowing players to create underage looking small breasted characters considering some of the outfits you can put these characters in are pretty much fetish outfits you'd see in softcore porn.

Now I'm sure NOA is probably glad to dodge the sexualized minors bullet the boob slider could have caused here as well, but at the end of the day all of Nintendo's recent censorship has had more to do with the West having a bigger problem with potential pedo bait then Japan who disgustingly embraces it because the otaku's who love it are willing to spend big money to get it.

You get out of here with that logic and reason. This is clearly the work of those no good, rotten, underhanded SJWs using censorship to silence the good and honest gamer.

I admit, I never would of thought of going "smaller boobs" if given a slider.   ;)
What was said above makes enough sense that I can accept the change.

What the heck?  Small breasts doesn't equal child.  That's a stupid law.  Like, really stupid.

One of the options is a height slider, and though I only moved it up I'm pretty sure you can drop the PC to someone of Lin's size.
