Nintendo hasn't forgotten about the next game in the Zelda series, and used today's recent Nintendo Direct video to announce that the game would be compatible with the newly announced Wolf Link Amiibo figure. Specifically, they announced that players could transfer data from the Wolf Link Amiibo from next year's rerelease The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD for Wii U to the upcoming new Zelda title. The exact nature of the data that will be transferred was not specified.

In addition, Nintendo also show a brief few seconds of the new Zelda Wii U game early on in the video, and reiterated that the anticipated game was slotted for 2016. Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime stated that Nintendo was "working hard" on the new series entry" and "want it to live up to your expectations."

So both Twilight Princess HD and Zelda Wii U come out in the same year?  Eh, I'm skeptical.

So is this confirmation NX will support Amiibo or are we still holding out hope that this is going to be Wii U exclusive and not a TP type release like GC/Wii? The fact it will be tied to an HD-Remake of TP the same year smells of them foreshadowing  repeat of that ordeal, which was also ten years ago when this releases.

They'd be crazy to not support Amiibo on their next hardware. NFC readers are relatively cheap and they want people to keep buying the things.

Amiibo are really the stars in Nintendo's portfolio right now, which has been lacking in cash cows and bloated with question marks.
