I don't think there was a mass PM sent out informing people that the game has begun. I didn't get one at least. I forgot to do that in my game also, and had this same slow start problem.

I think it's a Keeton Mask from OoT. Which might have been in other games. Its resemblance to Pikachu is probably not coincidental.
