Hooking a gamecube up to a laptop screen?
« on: July 10, 2003, 03:39:35 PM »
We have a Dell laptop that we use to watch DVDs on trips. But I want to be able to play my gamecube on the road with it. Is there a way to hook up the AV cables (I think they are AV) to a laptop to use its screen? For details on the computer just ask. Thanks for the help!

Sure, it's possible, but I doubt it's worth the money/time.

You'd have to get a DV capture card put in, which I don't know if it's possible on a laptop and they cost in upwards of $100. Also, to play it full screen, you'll need a hellacious processor. You're better off bringing a 13" $75 TV with you to tell you the truth.

Just get a LCD screen for the Gamecube and play it like that.

Didn't I see this exact same topic like a week or so ago?

I would swear the same thing.  LCD screen is best to go for money/use/time.

Oh, really? I don't come here very often. Could someone give me a link to the topic.

BTW, I have tryed to convince my Mom to get an LCD screen for the car. She said that we wouldn't get one since the laptop has about twice the size screen. So I don't think she would let me get an LCD for the Gamecube.

Do you mean an LCD screen for the car, or an LCD screen for Gamecube to use in the car, becasue there are currently 3 (i think) LCD screens designed for the gamecube.  Go to the reader review section of this forum to read a review on all three.

Assuming your laptop doesn't have Video In, you would need a usb capture device such as the ones made by Pinnacle:

This would give you the input for the GC video.
