I have a question about the fish-men (map-fish). Who are they? They must be of SOME importance since after you come out of the Earth Temple (I think?) you see one of them talking to KORL and he says something about repaying his debt. What debt? What's that all about, anybody?

Also, I think that there's a possibility that the fish-men may be Zoras (I don't know why, but it just seems like a possibility). I'm not trying to get into the whole Zora/Rito thing here, there's enough of that in other topics. I'm just saying that maybe SOME of the Zoras became the fish-men. I don't know why the Zoras would owe a debt to the King of Hyrule though...

The only purpose that the fish-men serve in the game is that the give you information for your sea map, and also some clues. There are trying to fight evil the best way they can, I mean how much can you expect from a fish.

The "debt" is basically that the KoRL helped the mer-men sometime in the past. I don't think they ever explained what the favor was, however.

Well, I don't get the whole Rito-Zora connection period. Fishy folk like the Zoras should be everywhere in the Great Sea, maybe not replacing the fish, but there's no sensible reason that they should have been turned into birds if you ask me.

I agree with bloodworth. I can see the zoras eventually becoming land creatures, but it would take hundreds of years, and that still doesn't explain the beak. I'm still trying to find out who the Rito really are, and the only explainantion I have is that the scientist by Lake Hylia secretly bred that annoying owl with a Gerudo.

The boat course guy hangs around the cafe bar in Windfall at night. There, he says you'd better be careful about throwing bait in the water, because the mermen might come up and pull you under water. Initially, I figured this referred to the painter fish that do your map, but the more I read it, the more it seems to be a referrence to the possibility of Zora in the Great Sea.

As for Rito, according to the story, they develop wings when Valoo gives them a scale (sort of like how Zora scales let you swim in OoT) when they come of age. I don't know where they come from or anything, or if they're Zoras, but that's what it says. . .

If you ever do any of the Nintendo Gallery, be sure to get the two "Rito" dudes at the flight platform. . . rather odd.

How many times does this Zora-Rito thing need to be explained? The water that makes up the Great Sea is not normal water. That's why you see no regular fish in it, just monsters. Sort of like an evil, magic water(yeah, it's weird, blame Ninty). I believe Ganondorf explains that near the end as well. Now that explains why the Zora are no longer in the Sea.

The transformation of the Zora to the Rito is basically explained by evolution, just as dinosaurs evolved into birds.(except for the fact that the Rito did not learn how to fly on their own. They are given scales by Valoo to do so). Not to mention the fact that the Zora sage called Medli her descendent.

So can we just end this discussion for good?

They gang up on all the Giant Octos and then have have a big feast. Havent you noticed that they are always circling around the Octos just waiting for the right moment to strike.

Exactly, I mean it is just a game. People worry themselves over if there are fish or not, or how the birds eat. But nobody cares that the fish can talk, That there are rats that will talk to you and sell you stuff. Its just a game. The story is going to have some things that dont make since, considering that the game is based in a fantasy workd, thats to be expected.

Also when the fish writes on your map how come it doesnt smudge, I mean the paint brush/pen he uses is just floating in the ocean. Where do they get the ink for that matter. And most importantly how can you posses the body of a seagul, just by feeding it a pear. The list goes on and on.

How he magically appears on whichever sector you are in is beyond me, but there is only one fish....he has a name too for pete's sake. Really, where did you get the assumption that there is a whole race of them? Don't you actually read what anyone in the game says?

No, that one fish says something about him telling all the other fish to help you out, after you meet him while leaving Dragon Roost for the first time. So I think there may be many. But still, it's a fish, and it talks, whether or not there are one or twenty.

The fish says it the first time you talk to him (in addition to his clue). He says something like Ill tell everyone about you just throw some bait in the water blah blah blah

Yeah he does say that but it's also confusing because if you talk to the fish twice at the same island he plays this game with you using your arrows. And if you do that twice at a different island he'll say want to play our game again? (that or something close to the lines of that.) It just doesn't make sense.
