Gamecube vs Gameboy Advance
« on: July 04, 2003, 09:04:40 PM »
Lets be honest, the gamecube isn't quite living up to expectations. For gameplay hungry people like myself, we don't need graphics to be satisfied. How many stunning games are there on the gamecube? I'm seriously finding it hard to count to 5 in this respect. Why do developers think they can replace gameplay with 3d masterpieces!? What do nintendo fans do!?............

Solution = GBA. So many fun games and I can play them anywhere! Maybe I'm just a 2d nut, but for some reason, these games tickle my fancy.  It's all about the classics.

Who agrees? Who loves their gba more than their gamecube atm?

Funny, I feel the opposite of what you feel noface, I find myself playing my GC more than my GBA, maybe it'll change when I get Advance Wars 2...

It's interesting to know that GBA can beat the GC sometimes, even when the GBA's portability is a hinderence, because of the small screen. The leap between the GBA's and the GC's hardware is huge, compared to the leap between, say, the N64 and the GC, yet the X-Box's minute advantage in hardwae capability (which means nothing, because developers are nowhere near maximising potential) fo either of the consoles) is one of its selling points. Its almost as if GBA's portability is only a gimmick, like an excuse that consumers use to buy it. I'm sure the potability is handy, but I know when I had my gameboy, I spent 90% of the time playing it at home. Just a thought...

I've had 18 games for GC and 4 for my GBA, so it's pretty obvious which system I prefer.

Personally, I haven't found my GBA to be that enjoyable except when it's connected to my GameCube.    I have Advance Wars, and Pokemon Sapphire.  That's it for my GBA.  There are a few more GBA games I would like, including Golden Sun, Phantasy Star, Magical Vacation, and Advance Wars 2, but I would MUCH rather have another GCN game than another GBA game for the most part.

To answer your question, no, neither the GBA or the GCN has dissapointed me.  I greatly prefer my beloved GCN though.

I love my GBA, but I have over twice as many games for my Gamecube. I think the Gamecube performing just peachy, and I intend to buy even more Cube games very soon. Mwahahahahaha!

I think my GBA is somewhere upstairs.  My games for it are on my shelf.  Rather dusty as well. My GCN gets played every day because it has excellent games.  I have 14 for my GCN, getting more.  I have 4 for my GBA, 2 are GB games.

LOLOLOLOL

I think I was going through one of those stages. I'm back into my cube and I actually took back my gba for a cash refund (gotta love the 7 day return at EB). The whole retro thing got old for me and now I'm back playing my latest game waverace. It's a lot harder than the n64 ver. When I was at ebay today I noticed Soul Calibur 2 came in. Anyone own this? Worth getting? There are some games I've kept my eye on. I usually just wait for bargains on ebay, got waverace for $35 (Aussie dollars) which I thought was a bargain abd came in perfect condition!

OH my god.......Gup I have the same Most wanted games too. RPG IS THE SH**!

Anyways, my gba is a soldier. It's great anytime, I usely play my GC for multiplayer games, or when I want to get captivated in the sound, art style, and gameplay of the game.

I play my gameboy advance alot becuase I love rpg's to death. I have tactics ogre, both golden suns, pokemon: sapphire (picked it cuase of cooler name), and more. So ya

the cube is my favorite by far, but with my recent purchases, my gba is currently my system of choice.  wario ware, puyo pop, and fire pro wrestling 2.

If I didn't already own a SNES (and have a sh!tload of games for it) then the GBA would probably be my favourite of the two.  But since I have no need for ports the GBA just isn't as exciting for me.  I love some of the original titles like Pokemon Ruby/Saffire and Metroid Fusion but I find that I don't play my GBA nearly as often as my Gamecube.  The Cube just has more original titles.  Plus I find that I generally suck at 2D games so one plus for the Gamecube is that I can actually do well in its games.

However since I got a GB Player my GBA games have been getting more playtime, just not on my GBA.

If you really did see soul caliber 2 at EB (in english) then I suggested you pick it up and sell it on ebay. lol you'll probably get alot more on ebay for it than what you paid. I rember seeing Enter the Matrix for $85 on ebay 2 weeks before it came out.

Well, I love my GC and wasn't interested in a GBA until the SP came out. The light makes all the difference for me. Since I'm a Castlevania and RPG nut, I've been playing the GBA SP more lately. I bought it 3 weeks ago to be able to go to the island in Animal Crossing. I like the connectivity but I also hope Nintendo doesn't over do it. But I would say I like the GC and GBA SP equally for different reasons. Wouldn't want to do without either of them.

Since I just bought the GBA SP, the 2 games I have so far is Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow and the first Golden Sun. Loving them both.
Graphics will always take a back seat to game play.
