Oot master quest??
« on: June 30, 2003, 09:51:59 AM »
I got some questions about the master quest cause I don't want to buy the game unless it's really different. 1 Are there more enemies to fight in dungeons? 2 Does it have a different ending? 3 Any different weapons, areas, or sidequests?

1.  There's a couple of new ones.  Nothing major though.
2.  Haven't finished it yet, but I would have to say no.
3.  The dungeons are completely different.  The layout is the same, but all the puzzles are forked up.  It's extremely difficult.  The main map remains identical however.

When I started playing the Master Quest, I didn't know how it was different or anything, so I was starting it out and it was all looking very much the same at first.  Once I got into the Deku Tree, it was still all looking the same and I was thinking that maybe it starts out that way and then expands into something new or whatever.  Soon into the tree, however, I started thinking how things sure didn't seem to be the way I left them back in the day.

The only thing different are the dungeons, but they are substantially harder. I definitely recomend it for any Zelda fan.

This means squat coming from me (I mean who am I?) but its great. If you've played and beaten TOoT ( Zelda made a FUNNY!) there are some fun/exasperatingly hard changes in the dungeons. For instance, right now (I'm playing through it for the first time. Long story. Don't ask why.) I just got inside Jabu–Jabu and I heard a moo. "What's this? Can there be so serious a glitch that I'm hearing cows in Jabu–Jabu? NO! There IS a cow  in Jabu–Jabu! In the FIRST ROOM!" At that point I had fallen of the floor laughing. When I regained consciousness in a few hours time, Link was staring with a look of disgust at the puddle of drool that had accumulated where I had been lying.

That freak me out the first time- there's cows everywhere in Lord Jabu Jabu's belly just sticking out of the walls- they serve a functional purpouse, one you won't think of right away. Shiggy must've been doing some shrooms or something when he came up with that.

YEAH mouse_clicker, I figured out your so-called "functional purpose" pretty quick. I mean- come on- if you see a cow out of reach what's the ONE thing you can do to it? I think the blood that comes out of Jabu-Jabu when you hurt him just heightens the humor in this situation. Oh, and also, if you play Epona's song under them, they'll look down at you like some freaky moose or boar's head in a scary mansion and offer you milk. Yes I know all cows do this but these ones are entombed in Jabu-Jabu's stomach lining!

I thought the cows were a nice touch. I mean, Jabu-Jabu is one big fish... Who says the Zora wouldn't feed him cows? hehe
In regard to OoT:MQ in general, I'd say that it was harder than OoT, but by no means was it really what I would consider "difficult" or "frustrating" at all.

*Puzzle SPOILERS*
One of the hardest things for me to figure out was toward the end in Ganon's Castle (when you're going through all the mini-dungeon rooms). I don't remember which room, but one of them had a crystal switch hidden inside one of the small pillar "torches". In the room right before the thing you have to shoot a light arrow at... Will anyone even know what I'm talking about? Because I sure don't... lol  (I guess it's just hard to explain what I'm talking about, but if you've finished the game you might know).

The room with the hidden switch inside the torch is the Light Barrier room where Rauru appears again saying that the light barrier is broken.
