Nintendo's Amiibo NFC line is already a big hit with Nintendo fans. For that reason we here at Nintendo World Report will be continuously working on this living, breathing guide to help keep our readers informed about what Amiibo there are, what games they are compatible with, and how they will work in each game.
To easily use this guide, use the Table of Contents on the right hand side of the page. The first pages list each series of Amiibo and give a detailed rundown of each Amiibo in that line. After that, we go into detail about each Amiibo compatible game and have a description of how Amiibo are used in the title and a list of all the Amiibo compatible with that software.
At the time of writing this, we only know about Amiibo being made in the form of figures. However, Nintendo’s President, Satoru Iwata, has even discussed making smaller, more affordable Amiibo figures, as well as Amiibo technology in different form factors such as cards.
Amiibo support will be coming to the standard Nintendo 3DS family of systems in 2015 through the use of an NFC reader accessory while the New Nintendo 3DS systems have an NFC reader built right into the hardware.
Something important to keep in mind while playing with your Amiibo is that each Amiibo can only store data from one Read/Write game at a time. Not all Amiibo supported software needs to store data (most currently don't), but we will make sure to mention if a game requires the ability to store data in this guide.
Keep checking back to this guide frequently for updated information on Amiibo and Amiibo compatible software.
