Game Boy Player availability
« on: June 26, 2003, 11:01:00 AM »
I have been to several department stores this week looking for the GameBoy Player.  None of them have recived shipments and a couple of them had no idea what I was talking about. I still have yet to track down a GameBoy Player to buy. Is anyone else having trouble getting ahold of one?

Stop looking in department stores, and start looking in dedicated game stores.  I've seen it it Best Buy, Circuit City, Electronics Boutique, GameStop, and CompUSA.

I wish I could look in those places. Thing is the only store in the area is a Kmart. Drive an hour in each direction and you can find more department stores. To find the stores you have suggested, I would have to travel an hour and 40 minutes at the least. I just don't have the time, money or desire to go on a cross-country trip to find one of these. Man, north-central Iowa sucks. I guess I'll just have to find someplace on the web to buy it.....

I would have thought that a place like K-Mart would have the GameBoy Player.

Let's put it this way, this store still does not have copies of The Animatrix, which came out on June 6th.

Whoa! I feel sorry for you. I couldn't imagine living in Iowa. I've always lived on the East Coast. Man I just couldn't even begin to fathom how frustrating it must be to be so behind on the times like that. If K-Mart is the only major retailer in your area, I feel as though they have some sort of responsibility to their customers to get all of the latest releases in a timely fashion. If you can't buy it from them, you really have no other alternatives (outside of purchasing on-line). I hate buying on-line (unless I am buying something on E-Bay). I would rather be able to walk into a store and buy it. That way there is no waiting for delivery and I can get a good look at the item before I commit to a purchase.

I bought the Animatrix the day it came out, but I haven't had the time to watch it yet!

Iowa as a whole is not that bad, just this part of Iowa. We have only been here for four years and I spend most of my time at college in Nebraska.  This Kmart rarely have the games I want to buy when they come out. They had Metroid Prime... ....with a wavebird (a Kmart exclusive!) which I didn't need. There are Walmarts, you just have to drive an hour. The one I was able to check didn't have any. I just broke down and bought the thing off the net a moment ago.

I got the Animatrix at the same Walmart. There's some really good stuff in it, as well as just bizzare.

I got lucky and EBgames.com had it with free shipping.  I would have gotten it at a brick and mortor store by when I went in they haddn't come in yet, and I work all week so I figured free shipping and I don't have to go to the mall.  Of course while I was shopping online I got BF1942 as well, so I ended up spending more money anyway.
