Topic: Japans hardware sales. GC up 19000 in a week?

I heard from my friend in icq that GC sales are up from 1500 to 20900! He said he got them from Bloomberg(or was it media create) but i cant find this. anyone know is this true?

can someone give me a link or something if this is true? I hope it is, but i think this might be because of GC/GBAP bundle.

That's a pretty big jump if that's true.  What was released recently in Japan that would cause such a jump?  Has Nintendo started some sort of new deal in Japan like the GB Player deal in the US.

you mean you think it hasn't happened already?

xbox sold something like 750 units last week compared to gc's 20,900.  (neither of which compare to ps2's 46,900, but who's counting?)

What are you talking about, X-box sales are on the rise in Japan. I mean last week they sold 690 units this week 750. I mean they make actually get over 800 next week LOL Sorry I had to take pot shots at MS over the X-box in Japan. They had everything going against them in Japan and they didn't help themselves at all by not providing any of the games Japanese gamers enjoy, releasing a coffee table sized console, and launching last of the three console in Japan. MS is only in Japan now because they don't want to admit failure.

You know what is the best news? GC/GBAP bundle was released on 21 of june and the last day of those sales is 22 of june which means most of those sales came in just 2days!

The Game Boy Player and GameCube Bundle have significantly increased sales in Japan.

According to Media Create , the week ending June 14th saw Nintendo selling a mere 1,500 GameCube consoles to the Japanese market. On June 21st Nintendo launched the Game Boy Player, which was also bundled with the Nintendo GameCube in what the Japanese call Enjoy Plus Pack. The increase in sales from this bundle is almost phenomenal.

Today Media Create reported Japanese hardware sales for the week ending June 22. Although the Enjoy Plus Pack had only been out for 2 days, the numbers that were reported show the GameCube sales skyrocketing to an outstanding 20,900 units sold.

The Enjoy Plus Pack also seemed to help the Game Boy Advance units in sales, as those hardware units sold reached 39,600, up from 30,900 units sold from the previous week.

The PS2 saw a drop off of nearly 29,000 units going from 75,000 units sold the week before to 46,900 units sold the week ending June 22.

nothing to cheer yet. GameCube has already seen a similiar spike when the gb player came out. We have to wait and see if it continues to sell in the next couple of weeks.

XD unless the japanese do like the ps2 and buy multiple of them i DOUBT it...but IT CAN happen..(GC dosnt seem to break as often as OTHERS i can name)

I hope this keeps sales at least over 5k a week....
