I just read that Enter the Matrix has sold 2.5 million worldwide allready. Not that I have a problem with it, but it's just that this is primairly based on the Matrix movies. They see the movie and they want to buy the game, although it's an okay game that highly resembles Max Payne. I haven't bought it like some of you, because I'm not blind to the hype. I guess what I'm trying to say that if you make a game based on a movie with guns, martial arts, bullet-time action and special effects, you're garanteed to be a millionair.
I'm not ranting the game "Enter the Matrix", they have put a lot of effort into the game with the real actor screening and voices. I think it's a good game, but that it is going to beat great games like Metroid Prime and LoZ: The Wind Waker senseless, it's not even funny. I think it's unfair for Nintendo and Retro studios, they've put a lot of effort into a game, but it still sells mediocre, compared to this and GTA.
Please don't post comments like "Who cares?", because I don't care either that it sells so much, I don't have a problem against that. I actually have to compliment Atari to use the Matrix franchise, very smart move. Great games are left in the shadow, It's not about innovation anymore, but franchises. I personally love innovation as I think a lot of you do, but if every innovative game sells poor, then I think it is going wreck the games-industry.
