Was just coming to post this. Looks alright for a sonic game. But I'm not a sonic fan, and haven't played any of the modern offerings.

Here is the Trailer for the game:

Here is the trailer for the related Cartoon:

Apparently the Wii U version is being made by BigRedButton Games, founded by former Naughty Dog developers, and the 3DS version is being made by Sanzaru Games, who worked on The Sly Collection and and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time.

I've always been a fan of SEGA, but mainly for their coin-op arcade machines, and, the classic Phantasy Star turn-based RPGs.

While I enjoyed the original Sonic The Hedgehog and Sonic 2 on Genesis in '91 and '92, I was never a Sonic fan.

That said, the Wii U version looks decent, and that's all that really matters at this point for Wii U.

It goes without saying, Nintendo's console needs 3rd party support, badly, so anything decent at this point is... More than welcome.

Sonic multiplatform 2015 game listing 'incorrect', says Sega

http://www.joystiq.com/2014/02/04/sonic-multiplatform-2015-game-listing-incorrect-says-sega/?ncid=rss_truncated

Quote
Sega wagged a finger of "nope" to reports of a Sonic game coming to PS4, Xbox One and Wii U in 2015, after a promo at a German toy fair seemed to let the chili dog out of the bun.

"The recent information coming out of Nuremburg Toy Fair was incorrect," Community Manager Kellie Parker wrote on the Sega forums, as later reiterated by Sega to Eurogamer.

"Sega has yet to announce details of upcoming console video games for Sonic the Hedgehog, or further details regarding the new Sonic CG TV series.

"The placard in question was put up by Sonic merchandiser Jazwares, and it omitted a third Nintendo exclusive following Sonic: Lost World (above) and Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Winter Games.  Nintendo and Sega entered a partnership on three Sonic games in 2013.

Is Sega being economical with the truth here? Nintendo deal or no, we can't see the spiky mascot and his predilection for big multiplatform releases being staved off for too long.

What is most interesting is that his game is running on the Cryengine3.

Hahaha! UE4. Someday!

That cartoon doesn't look terrible. It looks like something I would enjoy from time to time. But seeing those models in the game just makes me want to throw up. Luckily Sega stressed that this will not replace the original series.

I hope it's not too late for Sega to alter the character designs.

Otherwise, the game looks like it could be great.  Glad to see Sega on the right track.

It's based on the CG cartoon (which I also linked). it's too late.

Here's a much higher quality video of the game that is actually HD 720p when you turn up the resolution [click on the little gear on the lower right when you're on YT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymQQssVsi9Y

You cannot change the resolution to HD in the embedded video ^ though.

The other versions of the video posted here, including the one I posted, are not actually HD and are of low quality.

Not sure why they gave Knuckles HGH but I'm sure he'll be testifying at the next BioGenesis Congressional hearing.
(I'll be here all week, try the veal)

But on the real this doesn't look half bad. CryEngine 3 looks to be running fairly well (F**K YOU EA) and also has some decent lighting and textures. Hopefully this shows some polish and becomes more than a cash in/ merch whore.

Also I need a trailer with this included:

Was EA using CryEngine? I thought they had their own engine?

Crysis 3, which is published by EA used the CryEngine 3 on PS360 but EA "claims" there was trouble getting the engine  to run on the Wii U so the canned the port of either Crysis 2 or 3, I can't remember which one it was.

EDIT: Per Crytek, The Wii U in theory can also handle the 4th Generation CryEngine. The only game I know of that runs it is Ryse: Son of Rome on XBOXONE. Not that it would look as good but still, it's good to know #notdeadyet

Well, considering how late this title is, and when is it coming out again? Do we really want a late port of it now? What if it took that long to port it over?

I'm not making excuses for EA, but since this is the first(?) game to use it, maybe there was a technical issue that needed to be fixed first? We know with the sales and grudge EA holds against Nintendo, EA wasn't gonna be the one to put in that extra effort to make it happen. I also don't expect them to care now either. so yeah, I guess you're right....

But they put the extra effort into NEED FOR SPEED: Most Wanted, That game is gorgeous on the Wii U. I'll never understand EA, I just hope they lose there exclusive NFL rights before Playstation 6 is released.

That was Criterion's last good deed, not EA's.
I just wish they were more well compensated for it with better sales, because that was an awesome port, even if it was a little late.

Charging $59.95 USD didn't help either. Geesh it was like 4 months old. Remember those (semi) old NBC promos: "If you didn't see it, it's new to you!" That never worked.

Actually I like the Sonic character design and the Tails character design.  I think the only character that doesn't work is Knuckles.  Personally I would have gone with the strong, bulky shorter look.  Maybe the same height as tails.  Sonic slightly taller and Amy is Sonic's sonics height.

The bigger, stronger character is taller is cliche and boring.

There is no such thing as a good Sonic game. Screw your nostalgia. Even he best Sonic game (whatever you think that is) can be beaten basically by holding right on the D-Pad, and jumping on a boss when you have to. Even the 3D ones you just hold up and wait until you run into something that plays the game for you.
