I need your input/help
« on: June 17, 2003, 06:55:32 AM »
I was talking with one of my teachers the other day about starting a school based video game magazine. I know how it's going to be setup and everything but it costs a lot of money to print on glossy paper with colour. She suggested getting sponsers and whatnot, put ads in the mag. So it got me thinking...who should I turn to for support? There are many companies out there but I need your input. Also she said you should setup something on a CD that proves you're serious. I'm wondering what I should do. Powerpoint? Something with PS? Writing material? I need some help how to go about this.

If you really want to show people you are serious, you have to show them what they wil get. Make the magazine (issue 1) with the ad spaces open (i.e.   "See your ad here"). Go to some local gameshops (not the big ones, 'cause they wont care) and try to sell some ad space. Tell them this is the magazine. This many people will see it every month, and this is what it will cost you for an ad.

No, I would suggest going to the big ones and talking to the manager too.  They get cheap advertising (it's cheap right?), and they get to say that they help out local schools.  It's a win-win for them, and you get their advertising money if they go for it.
