The new year is always an exciting time for people who hold a fascination with numbers. Those people get to tell you all fun facts about what 2014 really means while you ponder your existence. Also new games.

The first big Nintendo release of 2014 is a game that has actually already been out for a few months. Wii Fit U is the newest title in the exercise gaming craze and, from all accounts, is the best. Our own Scott Thompson gave it a 9 and probably had some good reasons for the high score. I wouldn't know since I don't like games that judge me.

Wow, with Wii Fit U out what else could Nintendo have to amaze us with? The start of 2014 means the start of a whole another year of some good, and plenty of bad games.

I don't understand their pricing structure for this game.  Are they just trying to price gouge people who don't know better?  There isn't anything in the physical game that's different from the demo that you can keep forever by registering the Fit Meter, right?  Seems like a steep price to pay $30 more just to have a disc, especially when this is the type of game that is perfect for downloading since it's something you (at least in theory) should play most days.

Well, a portable hard drive is $100.  So if you don't have that and your Wii U doesn't have sufficient storage space for the game and you want Wii Fit U, then $50 is a good deal.

But if you have all that and a Balance Board and just want to buy a Fit Meter, then hey, free game!  I look at it as more of a loyalty promotion than the "normal" price for the game.

It's just an incentive for early adapters. The free download with Fit Meter is a limited time promotion that ends on January 31st. After that, it will cost money to buy the digital version. I don't think the price for that has been announced yet, but I'm not sure.
