Gamecube Gameboy Player
« on: June 15, 2003, 10:43:28 AM »
I've been waiting for this day ever since i picked up my cube back in November 01. Bad news though, i have an indigo cube. The Player is only available in black! I've checked gamestop and ebgames and there websites say they are only available in black. For me, this is horrible news. A indigo/black cube doesnt work well for me. Does anyone know where to pick one up in indigo? If I comes to importing one, what is the best Site? Please help this desperate gamer.

ctually you may be releived they didnt release it in a color like platinum.... lets put this in perspective

indigo/spice         ew...on second though purple and orange go great together
spice/platinum     cool
indigo/black         cool
black/black          cool
black/spice          cool
black/platinum    cool
indigo/indigo      cool
spice/spice        cool
platinum/platinum cool

looking at it from this perspective...black goes with everything

personally i would love to havre  platinum gba player or a indigo one more because that would look cooler on my black cube. A transparent one woudl be cool too.

Actually, I almost wish I had an indigo GameCube, so I could get a black GameBoy Player.    That would look so very cool.  I just wish I could get like a Spice GBP.    But whatever.  I can't afford one anyways.

I think the Indigo Cube and Black GBP would look good together.
The colors don't clash and the Indigo Cube already has quite a bit of black on it anyway.

The Gamecube intro screen is actually a mix of Indigo and Black too and it looks damn good.

in typical nintendo fashion they will probably release the other colors later on. you may want to wait to buy one, but black will look good with any color gamecube.

In my opinion, indigo and black would look so cool together, and if Nintendo did decide to release more colors in north america then you could always just trade it in for an indigo player. The point being if I were you I would just buy the black player and with the money saved for importing one you could buy a game with the difference.

I have a question, can you make the screen stretch to all the sides, or will there HAVE to be a border?

You can have the game take up the whole screen but it will still have some borders on the top and bottom.  The GBA screen is wider than a TV screen so the image will stretch to fit as much space possible horizontally which will leave some space at the top.  It's probably different though if you have a widescreen TV.

I've read about some resolution problems in previews for the Gameboy Player when you take away the borders.  Anyone else here or experience this?

Typically there are resolutions issues depending on the size of your TV.  On my friends 20" TV the games looked like SNES titles.  On my 27" TV there's some pixelation even with the borders on.  If you're really worried about how good the games look only play them on a smaller TV.

Thanks for the info.  I'm not sure if I'm getting one yet.
