So we finished Agents of Shield, and boy was that a brilliant finale! I'll write more later, as I have a lot to say. After this I got on fire to go back and finish the Marvel shows that we stalled on matching due to my wife's dampened interest in Jessica Jones and Luke Cage (we haven't even finished Iron Fist either, having different work schedules has really hurt our joint watching time). I was 'released' from watching them with her so I plowed through JJ and am now digging into LC. Got a lot to catch up on.

I told you on AoS, they really righted that ship.

I'll let you finish the MarvelFlix shows before i comment on those, as I'd rather you go in fresh instead of with anyone's opinion to screw your enjoyment. Marvel Netflix is a mixed bag, one that I mostly enjoyed so far, that's all I'll say.

But reviews for the first 4 of The Defenders is getting pretty good reviews too. So hurry up and catch up, The Defenders is almost here.

Iron Fist has been tough to watch. It's boring, the fight scenes are slow and poorly choreographed, and Danny Rand is an insufferable dickbag (so far anyway). I'm only on like episode three or four.

I have to get back into Agents of Shield. Season Three wasn't great despite a strong finish to Season Two. I heard great things about Season Four.

Finished Defenders just before midnight last night.  Overall it was quite enjoyable.  But there were a few things that annoyed me.  I'll copy this across from another forum I posted on.


Overall I enjoyed it. I like how there were moments of team banter and bonding, but it didn't feel overdone or forced. They toned down the graphic violence from the levels of Deardevil and Jessica Jones which I also very much appreciated.  The story felt a bit contrived but hey, it's a comic book show so that's almost to be expected.


But there were a couple of niggles that annoyed me.


1. Inconsistent powers/strength. It seems like Luke, Jessica and especially Elektra had super strength sometimes, then they didn't at others. I don't believe Elektra has any form of super strength. She's just a ninja. Yet at various occasions through the show she's throwing Jessica and Luke around like ragdolls. Then we see Luke and especially Jessica at a certain point display their strength and yet at times they seem to have trouble against your average thug.


I'll discuss what are and could be considered spoilers now.


2. How the hell didn't Matt know Jessica was following and taking photos of him in the alleyway? He knew there were about 30 armed thugs at the bottom of the hole when they were still about 10 stories up, yet he didn't sense her tailing him at about 10 metres back AND taking photos with that monstrous camera?


3. Sigorney Weaver was completely wasted. I don't really see what she brought to the table with her character that any other B Grade actor couldn't have. There was nothing at all that demonstrated what a 'threat' she was. We are told that she has fought off coup attempts by the others, yet at no point does she actually display her 'awesomeness'. We were about to see it and then Ellie dragged old Danny in and the whole thing stops. Her character had no weight. She was just winding up for some kind of dramatic spiel and then she gets killed. Huh? What an anti climactic end for that role. 


That's all I can think of for the moment.

It depends on your definition of bad.

I would describe Disney/Marvel movies more like they haven't lost than having a winning streak. Some of the movies are not good or just bad but pass that "Made money" bar excuse.

They haven't made one that was a blatant "miss" for me, but some are clearly better than others.

But they've yet to bomb at the box office and that might be more significant.

IM2, Hulk, Thor 2 are as bad as it gets, and none of those are terrible movies, they are just objectively the worst the MCU had to offer.

actually.... I specifically said MCU as in Marvel Cinematic Universe. You know the movies made my Marvel Studios. The Iron Mans, Captain America's, Avengers movies.

Fantastic Four 1&2, and Fant4stic was made by Fox
X-Men 3, Origins, Apocalypse are also made by Fox
Spider-man 3, Amazing Spider-man 1 & 2 made by Sony
