There is no Mod!
« on: November 06, 2013, 10:06:08 PM »
Hey gang!

Recent philosophical musings on the state of the forums has led to the idea that there is no mod(s). Without having some higher anonymous authority that we must all fear, it is now believed that we can free our minds of this unseen terror and use the forums the way we want to.
Therefore, here are the new forum guidelines:
FORUM RULES

Like any community, the Nintendo World Report Forums have rules and regulations that each user must abide by but we don't really care if you do.

General Tips:

* Just jump right in and post. Don't bother to familiarize yourself with the rules and norms of the forum!

* Sticky threads and posts in the 'Announcements' area just wastes of forum space so don't pay any attention to them.

* Be a jerk! Everyone seems to be one at some point so why be the only one left out?

Registration and Forum Accounts:

* Users must supply a valid email address, or not. It doesn't matter and you'll probably need some fake ones to set up a bunch of dupe account for more hilarity anyways. One warning though. You are signing up for these forums at your own risk of being mocked.

* Obscene, racist, defamatory, or otherwise offensive usernames, avatars, and avatar subtitles are always good for a laugh so go nuts!

* Usernames, avatars, and avatar subtitles that depict/endorse illegal activity (such as drug use or game piracy) are frickin' awesome.

* Avatars are required to be within 100x100 pixel size and 30kb in weight.  Unless you think the image is super cool! Images are permitted in forum signatures and frankly anywhere else you can stick them. The more cat pictures on this site, the more popular it should be on the internet.

* Impersonating another user or staff member is not tolerated. It's absolutely encouraged! Nothing like a good roast of somebody. Unless its me.

* Please use a simple easily guessed password for your forum account. There should be no secrets here. This will be an open forum and not the secret society type of forum that used to exist under the threat of mod's wrath.

* Forum users may access your account information for any reason.

Posting Guidelines:

* Thread titles should clearly indicate the content of the post unless you want to make it obscure or hyperbolic to get more clicks on your thread to see what it contains.

* Forum posts are whatever you feel like saying no matter what the level of content and legibility of the actually is. "Spam" and other posts without value happen so don't get worked up about them.

* Be aware of any special rules or conditions of particular forum areas so that you can break them for bigger laughs than you would get on other parts of the forum.

* You may personally insult another user. In the past, this was a no-no but people did it anyways so if that's what you want, that's what you get, you bastards.
* You may post obscene, racist, defamatory, or otherwise offensive material. See above.

* You may not pointlessly criticise the website and its staff. Constructive criticism is welcomed and encouraged, but if you're just going to post "NWR sucks" in a thread and leave, don't bother. This one stays because it seems to basically say you can criticise the staff as long as it is entertaining. Not that there seems to be any these days so why bother.

* Do not "troll" threads unless it is against somebody most people dislike. Remember, NWR's definition of a forum troll is a user who posts a response for the sole purpose of trying to be positive or attack the negativity of the post from another individual or group of individuals. Don't be that guy.

* Do not "derail" threads. Do not intentionally change the subject of a thread or purposefully turn a thread in an unnecessarily negative direction. If it made you think of a good topic you really want to discuss, make a new thread. What the? Has this ever been followed? This is a rule? It's like one of those old-outdated laws you hear about in towns and cities where woman can not wear heels after 1:00 pm or you must tie an elephant to a tree and not leave it unattended. Things that are no longer enforced but are still in action. That said, let this new forum be the death of the megathreads and start a thread on whatever you feel like on any subject.

* You may post another individual's personal information. Again, this is an open forum and if people don't like someone's opinions on a matter, I think it only right to further demonstrated this by knowing how to contact them or send suspicious packages to change their habits.

* You may post copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder, or anything violating U.S. law. Just don't make it super obvious, ok?

* You may not post or discuss anything involving activities illegal in the United States. (i.e. video game piracy, music piracy, movie piracy, drug use) unless you intend to share the wealth of such activities with the rest of us. Oh, and of course, discussing the illegal activities in any other country in the world is still fine!

* These topics are always good for increasing activity: politics, religion, sexual orientation. Unreasoning fanatics are especially welcome as they always help add mind blowing new ideas to them.

* For posts including images, as long as we are not paying for the bandwidth use whatever you want. Try to use images that would be really cool to show others at school, work, and to impress your grandma. Find out if she really has seen it all.

* Any attempt to impersonate a forum moderator/admin or staff member should be done in a way that could easily be misconstrued by new forum users leading to wacky hijinks.

* Last but not least, do not accuse another user of breaking the rules within a thread because no one cares and there is no mod to report it to.

Holy cow! There are still more rules. Well since this has to do with moderator stuff and that's a thing of the past, I think we can safely slash this stuff out of the guidelines.

Moderation Policy (Cliff's Notes):
THERE IS NONE!

* Do not make any attempt to impersonate a forum moderator/admin or staff member, whether in your posts, user name, or signature. This includes jokes that could easily be misconstrued by new forum users.
Just some random guy on the internet who has a different opinion of games than you.
