I want a Zelda 2 game.  I thought the game could work, but the Sprites and attack range was too limited...it was a fault of many old games back then.  Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade Game on the NES also had this problem.

But that is the past, and you could make a cool side scrolling game that allowed Link to use all his famous weapons to go through 2D action monster battles for level grinding...and awesome 2D side scrolling dungeons.  I think it could work and be a fun digital download title.

I don't know how well it would work since it hasn't been tried, but in a similar vein I would like to see what old RPG's like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and Lufia would look if you played them in a style similar to Xenoblade.  Might not work, might require too much nostalgia to work, I don't know.
Oh man, i love Caesar III so much. So much.

Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom from the same developer was just as good. It gives player more control over distribution of goods by adding signposts, but at the same time it also lost some of that geometrical simplicity and beauty that Caesar III had. In CIII, you had zero control how your agents will move and so you had to design your entire future city layout with their roots in mind.

I'd pay high dollar for any kind of city building simulation game on Wii U. I think Tilted Mill is still around...
The first thing I thought when seeing the gamepad was "get SimCity on this system, unhindered view on TV and doing the work on the gamepad.  I'd buy a Wii U for that alone".  We won't get it since EA and given what EA has done to SimCity I'm not sure I want it on Wii U anyways.
There's no reason Faxanadu couldn't see a successful implementation in 3D.

I would f***ing love to see Faxanadu resurrected. That game was great. As you say though, it would change the game quite drastically. I think I would prefer to simply have a downloadable 2D Faxanadu with really high res art. That would be so awesome.
I would love love love to see a Faxanadu 2D remake.  That doesn't really count for a Kid Icarus treatment though.  I'm sure it could make the transition to 3D ala Metroid regardless, but I'm not holding my breath.

There are other great sim games not from EA. I recently bought the Railroad Tycoon bundle on Steam. That would be a great game for the pad and Railroads! needs a sequel.

I know they are not completely obscure titles, but is anyone holding out hope for Wayforward to remake other old Capcom/Disney games? Chip N Dale, Ducktales 2, Darkwing Duck and Talespin could receive the 'Remastered' treatment.

I know the Metacritic score was not too kind for the game, but is there any reliable sales data that show the game was or was not a hit?
