did anyone know there is a remake of the original Castlevania on GBA? i sure didn't but i was out shopping today and saw it for $20 (i actually got it for $16 cause it was 20% off everything) so i grabbed it! its well fun, and i went to add it to my IGN gamelist and.. it aparently doesn't exist, i checked the PGC games just now, same deal, its not there. im rather confused now, anyone care to shed some light on the subject?

well im not entirely sure, ill scan the box art and post it here soon, the box/manual/cartrige just say 'Castlevania' and its copy right 1986 / 2001

i haven't played it much, im upto the first boss a serberus type dog, but some chick called Camilla revived Dracula, some guy of the last name Baldwin and his son and some other young guy came along, he made the 2 young guys fall down and after a bit of dialogue your controlling his son to find dad/stop dracular

That sounds like Circle of the Moon, the first of the three Castlevanias for the GBA. It was actually a launch title for the system(and the first GBA game I bought). It's not a remake of the original Castlevania for the NES, but it's still a good game. The majority of the 'the screen is too dark' comments after the GBA came out pointed at this game as evidence, and they fixed the problem with the second Castlevania game "Harmony of Dissonance." The third one "Aria of Sorrow" just came out, and In my opinion is the best of the three.  If you liked this game you should pick up the others.

perhaps the australian version of Circle of the Moon, like the European version, does not have a subtitle, as it does in North American and Japan. What is known as Cirlce of the Moon in North America is  simply called "Castlevania" in Europe. Or maybe you actually saw a Eurpean version somehow.

You certainly did not see a remake of the first game, as one does not exist. If the logo is yellow, and the games hero is Nathan Graves, then Circle of the Moon is what you have.

ahhh thank you, i was going nuts trying to work it out, yes its Circle of the Moon then, im Nathan Graves not the other guy i thought i thought i was, stupid Konami why couldn't have have just CALLED it Circle of the Moon for australians/europeans, -_____- hooray! i have Circle of the Moon

i probably would have worked it out (i dare say definatly) if i had actually played a Castlevania game before ^_^

Do you think they will remake the one off the NES when you can transform into that blue sage guy, the vampire, and ogre guy? Sorry my memory was very vauge, I think it was Castlevania III. All I can is that I was 6 when I played it, and I thought it was the scariest game of ALL time...until I beat it.

I have never played the original castlevania, but have played all three gba versions. (only finished circle the moon).

Its too bad that the ps2 is getting the console port (according to EGM the only reason the dev went with the ps2 is because of the fan base the console has). It would be pretty cool if this was developed for the gamecube. Then possibly we would have a original version of the game if and when you finished the gamecube version. Would be like metroid prime, where you could link the gba to the GC once the GC version was finished and get to play the first metroid.

i don't really understand developers logic. Yeah, of course the PS2 has a hug installed userbase next to the GC, but don't they get that it's thier games that sell consoles in the first place? I mean, come on, does Konami have so little faith in the enourmous popularity of the Castlevania series that they don't think people will buy a GC to play it? They will I tell you.

Just keeps brining me back the the pitiful third party support GC gets. Sure, every major company is supporting the console, but with the exception of Resident Evil (ugh) none of them are putting a-list titles on the cube. Final Fantasy Crystal Chornocle looks like an ok game, but it won;t be a system seller. I won't even go into Konami's terrible support...

it's by far the most enjoyable game if you have an original gba.  if you have either a gba sp or a gameboy player, then it's still probably the best, but circle of the moon is right up there.

Honestly, I hate companies lie Konami and Enix for developing so much of a series on GBC/GBA then making console versions on other systems such as a Castlevania and Dragon Quest. That's why I support companies like Capcom(MMBN), Sega(Sonic), and Namco(Tales RPG).

Hey PIAC if a manual came with the game then you will find the writing "Circle of the Moon" on one of the first pages, that is according to my european Castlevania manual.
