So did they thumbs down Xenoblade and Last Story too? Time for Broodwars to call for some more firings.

“Well, actually we have an evaluation system in place here,” said Leslie Swan. “And through that process we get the game in, do an evaluation of it to determine what we think the sales potential is, and it comes down to essentially if we don’t think the sales potential is great, we don’t do it.”

If you didn't know, Leslie Swan voices Princess Peach

Regardless, that's a really cool article about the Treehouse.

We've always known the reason certain games don't come out is because NOA feels they wont sell.  It's not like Reggie and Iwata throw darts on a board to make their localization decisions, it's always involved a bigger process like this.  And yes Xenoblade and The Last Story were viewed the same way until Operation Rainfall showed NOA there was interest in them.

Had people back in 2008 showed the same type of outrage they did for those games for Disaster, we might have gotten it.  Instead, no one really cared and then the game went on to bomb in both Japan and Europe which is why NOA felt they were right not to release it.

She doesn't voice Peach anymore. It's someone else and has been for a while now.

I would like to think that the evaluation process Nintendo has will be more open to the fact that Nintendo now has digital distribution methods for their games. I can see why you would not print X amount of copies of a game with a select market if your return is unlikely but I would think that if Diaster were to have been released now and only through a digital outlet then it could turn out profitable for Nintendo.
