The two big year-end first party Wii U titles swap release months and DK has a fantastic price.

Super Mario 3D World and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze have been given North American release dates. Super Mario 3D World will be meowing its way into stores on November 22 for $59.99. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze will swing into retailers on December 6 for $49.99.

Interesting to note is that these games have both swapped places in Nintendo's original holiday release lineup. Super Mario 3D World was originally slated for December and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze was going to be November's game. Also fascinating is the fact that Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is being sold at $10 less than standard Wii U titles.

I imagine they swapped them so that Mario, the more marketable title can help sell Wii U's on Black Friday.

I think they're doing, basically, what you would suggest, Ian. DKC is not going to sell the console. Mario 3D World, on the other hand, had better move some units, right? Makes sense to me.

I said at the time they announced it for December that the only reason it wasn't November was likely that they weren't sure they could hit that date. Development must have gone more smoothly then they had expected.
