I'll bite.  New Source engine is supposedly in the works, along with Left 4 Dead 3.  So, it appears that Valve CAN indeed count to 3, just not for the franchise that we were all hoping for.  Okay, maybe not ALL of us, but hell if it hasn't been a long time coming now.

I jumped into CS: GO recently, and I had a bit of fun.  I played a lot of 1.6 back in my time, and it brought back some good memories.  I'm definitely nowhere near as good as I once was(and even then I wasn't anything to brag about).  Some of my best gaming memories were of me and my "posse" heading to the local internet cafe(remember those) and playing CS LAN.

I've seen it, and I don't know what it is, but I know I don't like it!

While I don't have a gaming PC or laptop, I can run older and indie games mostly no problem. Juping into steam headfirst. My user name is well you guessed it Shingi_70.

These are the games that I've played since the Summer Sale.

Starseed Pilgrim - I don't care what anyone says, Starseed Pilgrim is not a fun game. I actually thought that I was missing something. That perhaps I was just too stupid to figure it out; when in actual fact I had figured out the mechanics within a matter of minutes. What an utterly dull game.

Botanicula - A quirky game, great music and an interesting art style. While the game itself does effectively boil down to clicking on everything you see, it still manages to be enjoyable. The cast of comical creatures, the sense of helping to build a community, and above all else the sound effects (which as far as I can tell are all voiced by humans) make Bontanicula well worth spending a few hours with.

McPixel - McPixel offers you a set of scenarios, all of which involve explosive, and tasks you with avoiding catastrophe through any means necessary. Very rarely do the solutions make much sense, but they are most certainly surprising and/or humorous. A word of warning, however; the music will seep into your subconscious.

Resonance - While not as good as Gemini Rue, Resonance has cemented my opinion that Wadget Eye Games know how to get players invested in characters. Sure some of the twists might be unearned, and yes sometimes the solutions can be obscure, but these guys sure know how to make an adventure game. Personally, I would love to see what this company could do with a bigger budget.

Machinarium - Another adventure game, albeit one which is more immediately endearing than Resonance. The first thing that hit me about this game was just how good it looked. The art style has a detailed 'sketched' quality to it that really worked for me. The design of the world, a run down, totalitarian city inhabited exclusively by robots, also succeeds in evoking a strong sense of place. The experience, however, was somewhat undermined for me by some weak puzzles in the latter half of the game. The visuals, music and pacing, however, were such that this game was perfect for a lazy Sunday evening.

Fez - Having only played this for a few hours, I'm not yet at the stage where I can make a judgement call. So far, however, I've been decidedly underwhelmed. I understand that towards the end of the game the doors are thrown open, the gears begin turning, and the code is cracked...at the moment though it just seems like a competent indie platformer. To be continued...
