I beat that thing, I guess you just got to be persistent and choose right when those questions come up. It helps to have those hp kits if you can get them and using green magic to refill your health. You don't have to kill it you just have to last until something else happens. I don't remember a particular strategy cause it's been a while. You might have to hit it with your harpoon cannon once but I'm not sure it matters how much you hit it, you just got to survive long enough. Sorry if this advice sucks.

Using your healing spells should recover some HP too.  I beat the Red Gigas on my 2nd try I believe.  Just try to stay alive.

You concentrate fire by making sure that all your rounds hit at the same time.  I don't remember what weaponry you have at that stage of the game, but here's an example.

Fire a torpedo, and set it to hit 2 turns after the time you fired.
Fire your sub-cannon in the next turn, and set it to continue into the next turn.
Fire your main cannons in the next turn when the other two shots are scheduled to hit.

In the other turn, heal your ship, or use focus or something.  If you concentrate all your fire on the Red Gigas right before he shoots, he will miss you completely.

You need to get a cannon that can do that first, not all do it.  Some let you do a "stretch" into other turns and fire along with another turn, or the torpedoes you fire and they hit later during another turn.  The only problem is that the cannons that let you fire in more than one turn eat up Spirit Points.  I rather save up the SP for the big guns, harpoon cannon or the better one later.  Because later you are gonna need to use the big guns and getting use to using them early makes the later airship battles easier.

When I played the original Dreamcast version it wasn't until after the first Valun(sp?) part that I got a hang of the harpoon cannons.  I did one ship battle the hard way and could have saved a half hour.

I think if memory serves me correct, only the red and green gigas can't be killed.

lol.  I suppose that brute strength works too.

Subcannons can fire into the next turn by simply pressing right on the analog stick when selecting which turn you want it to fire.  I didn't ever have a problem doing it, and IIRC I got a dialog box asking me if I wanted to fire into the next turn, but it's been a while since I rented the game.  Maybe you don't have any subcannons installed?

Heh.  Thought it might be something like that.

I am glad that you are enjoying the game though.  The lost city actually took me a fairly long time to find, but once I found it, the game got VERY exciting for me again.  It's really making me wish I had $5 to go rent it right now.  The game was shaping up to be one of the best RPGs I had ever played.

I think, if memory is any good to me, next to the lakes.  Try flying around the edge of the lake until you find it.  The compass as usual will spin.  The area of the bird is in the open grassy area and not in the trees (maybe a triangle shape of grassy area?).  Hope that helps.  If not at least you can gain some levels fighting while you find it.  I don't think you can see it on the ground until you actually find it which sucks.

Yeah, it took me for bloody ever to find that blasted bird.  I am pretty sure that the golden man points right at him though.

The bird is near the edge of the biggest island in that continent.  (as in between the edge of the island and the lake.)  There's a huge lake right beside him, and there's some water flowing from the sky nearby.  Just keep looking, and you will eventually find him.

Keep flying up and down the coast, and you will eventually find him.  Don't know what else to say...

It wasn't hard for me because I did play the Dreamcast version.  But still you would think that if it was necessary to further the story that it should have been more out in the open and not hidden like all the other discoveries.

spoilers

i just set up my base on crescent isle, and its cool i love being able to spend money to change things! but i noticed (after talking to the shop lady in the big round cave) that my ranking has plummeted, i was Vyse the Admirable or something to that effect yet now im Vyse the Fallen Pirate, and i have no idea what the hell happened. how could it have dropped so severely when it had been so good? and is there any way i can recover this?

SPOILERS:

Ohhohhohh, It's a side quest.  You need to go to the city that was attacked, can't remember the name but I think it was the same city that you were at when Vyse and Aika and Fina were seperated, the city that had the palace. Nasr?  Go there and up the steps near where the palace was you'll find your look-alikes.  You'll need to fight them, but be prepared, they are f**king hard, I mean HARD.  Lot harder that Piastol (or whatever her name is)  I am actually stuck on defeating them because I need to raise my levels, but I am currently playing Wild Arms 3 so that will be a while before getting back to Arcadia.

okay

I didn't have much trouble with the big fat guy and little kid though.  I don't remember what I did though because It has been a while.  I think maybe I lost one before I actually defeated them.  Try changing the color of your weapon and see which one works best and use your most powerful attacks and heal often.
