Walking Dead: Survival Insticts coming to the Wii U
« on: January 10, 2013, 03:39:03 PM »
This one is an FPS by Terminal Reality instead of an Adventure Game by Telltale. Comes out March 29th, I believe it is eshop only. March will be a busy month!

Nice that Wii U will get it (interesting that the game was half done before they started a Wii U version). Not sure what the article says since the page won't open for me, but I think people should know that it is a prequel to the TV show (while the game episodes from Telltale Games was based on the comic).

Hmm, the launch trailer indicates it is retail.

Instead of announcing high caliber games, we get this, a cash in game, well i guess that settles the debate for third party support.

Um, Telltale's Walking Dead game was one of the most popular and critically acclaimed games of 2012 (many even called it a potential GOTY), so don't assume this one won't be good too.

Except Telltale has nothing to do with this game, and as the OP said, it's a completely different genre than the multiple GOTY award winner. Terminal Reality, the people making this game, have been all over the map with their latest games. Their most recent was Kinect Star Wars (ugh) and before that Ghostbusters.\

I'm hoping it's good, specially for the eShop.

Um, did you read the OP?? This isn't by Telltale so don't assume it will be as good as their game.

I know Telltales Games has nothing to do with this game (obviously Soren and EasyCure did not read all of my post since I specifically mentioned Telltales game). I was pointing out that alegoicoe shouldn't be slamming this for being a licensed game since last years Walking Dead was also a licensed game and it was hailed as one of the best games of 2012. So alegoicoe should not be assuming it will be bad.

but now you're assuming that his assumption was based on the fact that the game is a licensed game, not on the fact that the dev behind this version isn't that good.

you know what they say about assuming things..

Um, his wording makes it clear that his assumption is based on it being a licensed game: "Instead of announcing high caliber games, we get this, a cash in game". He makes no mention of the developer, just it being licensed.

I am not slamming the game its just that is underwhelming hearing of all the good games coming out this year such as bioshock and metal gear and what we get is sub par games, which might be good but i am certain that this game is not AAA caliber.

What makes you think that? Especially since the last game (even though it was a different developer) was really good.

Is just my opinion, my idea of third party support is not this. Plus the game has been getting bad rap for outdated graphics, and other issues with the developer.

I posted this in the talkbalk thread but I'll add it here.  The game looks rough as hell, so far it looks like those in for a zombie fix should just replay ZombiU or wait for the sequal.

As I posted in the other thread as well, Terminal Reality confirmed that was a fan made trailer using old footage of the game, and that the game looks much better now: http://www.digitalspy.com/gaming/news/a449619/the-walking-dead-survival-instinct-developer-on-fan-made-trailer.html

Thank goodness, maybe there is hope then.  Time to see if a new trailer has been posted.  One thing I do hope for is that they add hands and body to the first person view similar to how ZombiU does.  It looks so strange floating down the ladder as apposed to climbing down it.  I wish more fps games actually put you in a body as apposed to the floating cam with the hand and gun attached.

OK, if you want to play that way, here's the game's official trailer released after that fan-made one got out:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Oh7L0Ghpt14

Yeah, not a single scrap of in-game footage. Just two of the actors from the show telling you how awesome it'll be and to pre-order at Gamestop. And the game comes out in 2 months with no "real" screens of what the game looks like now. Yeah, I'm suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure that game's just going to be FANTASTIC, don't you?

Guys, don't buy this inevitable piece of ****, even if you want to support 3rd parties on Wii U. Just. Don't.

i dunno.. I wouldn't mind if it was wii all over again when it comes to third parties. I, for one, an not an insatiable gamer. I wouldn't mind gaps between major Nintendo releases because I have plenty of older games to keep me busy, assuming I had time to play games anyway, or assuming I was even caught up with the wii u games i already have (system launched in november  i haven't completed a single launch game yet*).

let stupid third parties blow their loads on ps4/nextbox game development with the same old ideas, let done more of them go under and perhaps they'll learn their lesson by the time Wii Me comes out. No matter what happens, I'll of made the smart investment with my purchase because Nintendo isn't going anywhere and I'll not only always have something to play, but I'll save some money too

Apparently  this is coming out next week as well! For some reason I thought it was the week after.

Some new gameplay in the video. The graphics aren't so hot, but I have hope for the gameplay.

Yes.  Neither of the two main characters, Daryl or Merle, have made an appearance in the comic thus far; Daryl is more or less the breakout character of the show.  My understanding is that this game takes place prior to the show.
