Call of Duty: Black Ops II
« on: November 29, 2012, 05:16:44 PM »
I am very impressed with Black Ops II.  The last Call of Duty game I played was Call of Duty 3 (2006).  Theater mode is cool.  It was neat to discover that it records your entire gameplay session and allows you to go back and watch, edit and share gameplay clips and screenshots with the community.  Looks like there are a lot of multiplayer features that I suspect existed in the previous version (on 360/PS3), but they are new to me.

Anyone figured out voice chat?  I am using my iPhone earphones/mic and I can hear other people talk through the earphones, but don't know if they can hear me.  I do see a speaker icon light up next to my name when speaking or if my game volume is up loud.  I don't know if the mic on the gamepad is being used or the headphones mic.  Are there any options as far as increasing/decreasing mic sensitivity?  All I have found is one setting which is to enable or disable voice chat.

Now sure if you need a full headset, the Wii U gamepad has a mic on it, so you just need headphones.

Ok the mic confused the heck out of me for days. This is how it works, I think...

Plug your stuff in, make sure your settings in COD allow voice chat. Should be on by default. There are other settings but I think they are pretty balanced by default so you should be able to hear everything.

Important thing, make sure the sound on the actual Gamepad is turned up. Other wise you will cut out your own voice not matter what the actual head set settings are.

If you see your name pop up on the top of the screen while you talk, during battle they should be able to hear you.

I kept losing out on horrible conversations because the gamepad was turned down.

So far this game has been a lot of fun for me.  My biggest complaint being if you're playing multiplayer on Wii U, you'll only be able to find full lobbies for team deathmatch, the capture the flag mode, or free-for-all.

I've only played one level of the single player so far, though.

Has anyone run in to this problem:

I load up the game with intent on playing with Wii controls, I even went a whole mission with no issues, then I realized I forgot to turn the display off on the Gamepad, so I do so but accidentally hit a button turning the screen back on  as I'm setting it down. I turn the display off again but now the system isn't picking up the IR signal from the sensor bar and unless I'm pointing at the Gamepad's sensor instead.

I can't seem to fix this without having to shut down the system and I'm right in the middle of a mission so I don't really want to do that...

Same thing happened to me, though I wasn't sure what I did wrong.  The only way I avoid it totally right now is just turn the display off the gamepad while I'm on the Wii U home screen and just access Black Ops with the Wiimote from there.

And finally we can play a game together!

Hadn't we played brawl before? I believe you easily kicked my ass (then again, who didn't). Speaking of BLOPS Multiplayer, I tried my hand at it today for the first time (second time turning on the game lol) and I thought I was doing well in my first match, I had 3 consecutive kills right off the bat.. then I got my ass handed to me 2 games in a row.

I'll keep at it, but I'd love to face off against NWR gamers. I was decent in the Conduit when a few of us played together, I'm sure I just gotta find my groove with BLOPS

I'm starting to do great now. Once I unlocked the laser pointer and figured the shot gun out I actually got 3rd place a few times.

Gonna start the campaign this week.

Just saw the commercial for this game... Why am I so embarrassed to play it? :(

I just started using the shotgun too. I noticed that I was getting obliterated in a couple of games by people using it, so I figured I'd try it out.

I think this could very well be the first game I trade in. I've enjoyed it both in terms of single player and multiplayer. Never been a big fan of Zombies but don't like these maps very much. However I think I'm just tired of the competitive multiplayer. Finally. I think I would rather play cooperative mulitplayer at this point and part of why I'm looking Mass Effect 3. Finished the campaign tonight (think I got the best ending and saw the bonus at the end which was nice) and in the 50s when it comes to the multiplayer. Thinking perhaps I should trade it and put money toward something else that I want before it's to late. Could get pretty close to half the price I paid from Best Buy.

So Nintendo just dropped Activision's first update for Blops2 on Wii U a bit earlier than they thought. So far the only thing I've noticed is:

-You can now get to the Wii U home menu through Multiplayer. But you will be logged out automatically.
-Core and Objective games now have their own separate playlists.

Apparently some people are seeing menu listings from the Revolution DLC that was dropping for Xbox360 today.

Quote
Hello Wii U Community,
We are noticing some issues with the version of the patch that was posted that you guys are also reporting here on the forums.  We are working with Nintendo on a resolution to this problem and hope to know more at some point tomorrow.  I will keep you posted as I receive more information.

We are aware that some of the menu listings from the 360's Revolution DLC drop are showing up in the game.  This is not a confirmation of DLC for the Wii U, just a versioning problem that we are working to address.

I do not want to publish the list of known fixes until I have confirmation that they are all live.  I hope to be able to do this tomorrow, but as I mentioned, this is something we are working on with Nintendo, so the timeline isn't entirely in our hands.

Thank you for understanding.
