I go to Florida International University and we have a gamestop in the main building, so i preorder my wiiu there the same day pre orders opened, but i went today to find out the launch plans for sunday and the bastards are not opening sunday due to the university policies, i asked if i could transfer my pre order to another store but no. so basically I am fu**ed, i have to wait until Monday morning, while people get to hold their wii u's on sunday. just wanna to get that out my chest, it really sucks.

I won't buy it at launch since those units always have the most problems.  It's better to wait a few months so I can get a newer model that will have any problems the launch ones did fixed up.

I'm in the "it's Nintendo Hardware" bandcamp because my launch day GCN still works fine (even after a few accidental falls and a cracked controller port face-plate), as did my original white launch day Wii which did eventually have its disc drive burn out but I did a LOT of gaming on that system before it died and I've heard it may of been in part due to the system being vertical.

I haven't plugged my launch day N64 in a while but I'm sure it works great too. I'm not worried about the Wii U.

@alegoicoe... sorry to hear bro, here... this is for you[/ur]

It's actually worth more now.

Anyway, I went to Best Buy today to exchange Mario Tennis Open for Paper Mario: Sticker Star and asked about the Wii U launch. No midnight launch confirmed. :(

On the bright side, no waiting in line confirmed. :) My pre-order will be waiting behind customer service. I will, however, walk the no pro-order line with my 3DS in tow for all of those precious, precious StreetPasses.

The StreetPasses are probably the biggest reason I'm upset there's not a midnight launch at my GameStop. If the 3DS midnight launch was any indication, there would have been a good amount of people there to tag.

It's a 3DS feature that allows you to exchange data with other 3DS owners within range. I'm trying to finish Find Mii 2 to get more hats. I'm currently using the Metroid hat.

I know that much about StreetPass I just don't know exactly what kind of data its exchanging. I'll get one eventually; I'm never an early adopter with handhelds. Didn't get a GB until the GBC, didn't get a DS until Mario Kart DS came out and regretted it because the DSL was right around the corner. This is getting off topic though.

Preordered mine within hours after they went up on Best Buy. I think I will go to a GameStop launch party though just for the festivities and Street Passes.

I got my Deluxe preordered the same afternoon as the release date was announced.  Just traded in my OG 360 today towards it and was going to trade in my Wii but since there was a slight sound of something ratling around inside the system, Gamestop said they'll have to consider it a "damaged" unit.  Given you only get 30 dollars for a used Wii, I can't even imagine the levels of raping I'd have to suffer for a "damaged" Wii that still works fine.  AND they also wouldn't take my Wii because I didn't have the basic audio video cables, I had the dam component ones which I guess don't count.  To make a long story short, I'll be selling my Wii on Ebay now.

Let me get back on track though.  I think I have around 135 payed off of my preorder but will be paying it in full probably on Saturday.  Will also be looking to get ZombiU and its a toss up right now between AssCreed 3, CoD, and Darkstalkers 2..oh and NBA 2k13.  ZombiU is a def for me but the others I want to read up on their reviews.

Quick question though, with Gamestop preorders.  Does anyone know if Gamestop is getting enough to cover their preorders?  I've asked around and they all say if you preordered, your guaranteed a system on launch day.  Then they said its going to be a first come first serve basis when it comes to preorders.  This just has me worried though as I don't trust Gamestop or most of the people that work there (at least in my shops).  Has anyone on here heard anything about Gamestop's preorders that could shed light on this?  Do I have to line up outside Sunday morning even though I have a preorder or can I just walk in and be confident my Deluxe will be there?

Last I heard from different sources is actually that GameStop was going conservative on their actual Pre-Orders and that their was the possibility of having extras.  I need to find that article.

That would be a blessing.  Sunday can't come soon enough.  I had too much vacation time at work that needed to be used before I lost it so I'll be off from Sunday to Thursday.  Good times ahead.

Preordered a deluxe version myself.  After a busy week I just got the email today that it shipped.  Eagerly awaiting the packages arrival on Monday. :)   Didn't get any games for it, but I'm fairly sure I will be getting the new Super Mario Bro's U as an early birthday present.  So should be all good.

This is one reason why I'm waiting. I do have a launch GameCube that's still ticking, however I've had problems with the Wii I bought 14 months after launch, and I've heard about the 3DS screen scratch issue, though mine only gets scuffs that wipe away.

Now I don't expect there to be problems, but it is a real possibility. The main reason I'm waiting is because I want a larger library, if there were something coming out that I really wanted then I'd get it at launch and risk hardware problems. It's just an added benefit of waiting that I'll get to see if there are any problems I may run into.

I am NOT getting a Wii U on Sunday or anytime in the foreseeable future. There's the practical reasons like I don't have the money, I still have quite a backlog for systems I already own, Xenoblade, etc., but I'm really not chomping at the bit to get one. There's nothing in the launch window that makes me think I need to throw down $400 as fast as I possibly can. Sure, NSMBU and Pikmin 3 will probably be good and/or great, but it's probably gonna take a Metroid or a Zelda or just an avalanche of really good stuff to get me to put up for Wii U. Also maybe a price drop.
