Watch Mario, Luigi, Link, Zelda, and more interact with Maxwell on Wii U.

Mario and Zelda characters and items are going to be available in Scribblenauts Unlimited on Wii U, according to Warner Bros.

Teased earlier this week, the reveal shows Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Yoshi from the Mario side, and Link, Zelda, Epona, and a Goron from the Zelda side. They will all act in a similar manner to how they would act in their games. These characters and items will be exclusive to the Wii U version of the game.

This is pretty damn cool.

LOL, I wonder if DLC would be possible to add even more characters? Like from the Kirby franchise, or Metroid.

I was thinking about picking up Scribblenauts: Unlimited in December after the craziness that is the Nintendo November, but now the thinking has stopped. It is a definite my friends, a definite.

Strange that these characters won't be in the 3DS version...

Anyhow, I do hope that Scribblenauts Unlimited can finally realise the potential of the original. The toolset at your disposal all sounds very impressive, but if you don't actually need to use much of it to play the game, it would be kind of pointless having all these options. I'll hang back for the reviews on this one.

5th Cell must be big fans of Paper Mario and Wind Waker, cause the art style resembles those two sorts of games in the series... XDD

Wow the 3ds version is really getting the shaft , wii u version has item creator and Nintendo characters. Street pass puzzle solving seems neat but seriously the wii u version is now the defenitve version

That could be true about the Zelda characters (at least in Link's case)... But if you look the Mario characters more closely, it's probably more coincidental...

The basic art-style of Scribblenauts already strongly resembles the Paper Mario style on its own (all the other characters are already paper cut-outs with black dots for eyes to begin with). If the designs were truly meant to be based off Paper Mario, Mario and Luigi's shoes would be larger in size and would be attached directly to their bodies. The fact that they have legs pretty much proves they weren't using the Paper Mario designs as their models.

Wii U has an editor, right?

Then what will stop you from making your own Nintendo (or whatever) characters? You're probably be able to tear these apart or just recreate them. Or even easier -- download from community.

It's cool, but doesn't seem all that substantial considering the editor is already there.

The assets will already be there and pre-created. Type something like "Mario" and Mario will appear. It's like wrestling games, easier to just use wrestler in it than create one from scratch to look like someone

I have a feeling Nintendo probably recognized the Object Editor's potential for user-made Nintendo characters and specifically requested 5th Cell include official Nintendo-approved character designs so they could directly influence how their properties would appear. Notice how these characters are exclusive to the Wii U version-- the only one with the editor in the first place.

PC version should also have an editor.
