Grooming
« on: September 29, 2012, 04:20:15 PM »
So I wanted to male a thread about grooming and such. Got up this morning and shaved and it felt good after letting hair piled up all over my body. I use a old dispable razor and nivea shaving/body/shampoo. Will probably upgrade to one of those expensive shaving razor kits from the art of the shave at.

 http://www.theartofshaving.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-TAOS-Site/default/mProduct-Show?pid=PG_00670535670186&start=1&cgid=razors-safety-razors

Also I feel like crap today. I'm wearing an ill fitted non tailored suit and its someone uncomfortable.

But back on topic do you guys shave and where excatly do you guys shave. I currently shave everywhere but my face.

Sometimes I let my body go a little too long. In those instances I usually use a pair of sheering scissors to thin everything down as much as possible. Then I apply Nair and let it work it's magic. Afterwards I'll hit any missed areas with a regular old razor. It goes without saying that there are some places where nothing but a razor goes... underarms, genital region, face, etc.

I shave because facial hair itches and also I have a problem with dandruff. Its bad enough dealing with dandruff on my head, but I shouldn't have to deal with it on my face either... and thanks to shaving I don't.

I wouldn't suggest going crazy with the razor.  Personally I have no hair on my chest or my private areas barring a few bits I couldn't get but wouldn't be noticed. I don't shave my legs and only trim my underarm hair.

Man you guys are missing out on not shaving the body. Women love it.

There is no one-size-fits-all rule about what women like.  That being said, I have yet to find a woman that doesn't like a man to at least trimmed.

I think outright shaving body hair is excessive.  It's itchy when it comes back in, and it isn't some big secret that guys have body hair.

I hate shaving with a passion. I take my mach 5 turbo and shave by face and chin. If I put that thing to my neck I get the worst razor bumps! Curse my blackness!

So then I whip up a batch of magic shave, the new unscented kind that doesn't smell like poo. Leave it on for like 10 minutes then scrap it off. It's the worst. Then I gotta put this blue stuff on after to make sure bumps go away. It burns like crazy but it's worth it.

I love to be clean shaved but because it's such a chore I do it maybe twice a week.

When I worked wearing a super hero costume my stubble would poke through so I had to shave more often. It was the devil! Then because the costume was itchy in the front I shaved my chest all the time. I quit that once a lady questioned my manliness.

I also have had a chronic injury for the last 2 years or so. The acupuncturist gave me these sticky herb things to stick to the area. But because I was harry it wouldn't stick so I had to shave it too! Now only my left butt cheek is full of hair.

That's right, the hand I shaved my right butt with is the same hand I packed your comicon goods with!

I can't touch a razor to my face for the same reason, and an older man at my work told me about that Magic Shave and how the new one doesn't smell like rotten eggs. But I use an electric shaver. works fine.

I do use a razor though.... just not for my face.
Which just reminded me of a funny story with a happy ending :)

I only get razor bumps when I actually grow my beard out. I have a process for shaving especially when it's kinda long (clippers, face wash, lather brush, shave once with the grain, re-lather, shave against grain, lotion). I cut out the clippers and re-lathering on a regular day though and I'm usually fine unless I'm too lazy to replace the head on my razor (fusion proglide - recommended) or am in a rush (leads to cuts). I try to shave every day, but some days that's easier said than done on some days.

I've used Art of Shaving products before, and they work great. I have a friend (really thick, fast growing beard) who uses their safety razors and other products.

Your just a Calico Racht.  I'm sorry you came from Cat People.

Anyway, I have a beard that starts out as Steel Wire but Softens up when it starts making me look like a terrorist.  I don't get bumps when I shave but I can only go over anyplace about once because I get Razor burn.  I shave after a shower because it seems to work better. For electric razor I hear you want the opposite and have your face Drier.  I use my can of Barbasol and my Vibrating Safety Razor to shave my face.  Its not really that bad.  But being the Man's Man that I am I learned at an early age to embrace my hairiness.  (I've had roughly the same dark arm and leg hair since I was in First Grade.)

I don't think I was sporting the beard when we had the Brawl Meetup but their pictures of me on the forum around.

I've got a goatee right now so I'm only shaving parts of my face.  I'm super lazy and usually only shave once a week though unless I've got more formal occasions lined up.  I actually prefer how I look with about two days of stubble.

I have a pretty hairy body.  If I know I'm going to the beach or something I'll shave my shoulders.  My back hair is pretty thick but I need someone else to help me with that area so I rarely do so.  Once I shaved my chest and it looked so terrible that I decided to never do it again.  I'm not always in the best of shape and chest hair makes me look more toned and tanned.

None of my ex-girlfriends ever complained about me being hairy.  One in particular specifically liked it.  As she pointed out "if I wanted a smooth chest I'd date a woman."  I've honestly not concerned about women disliking my chest hair.  I see lots of guys with wispy teenager beards who weight like 90 pounds and wear women's jeans.  If a girl is attracted to that, she won't like me even with a smooth chest.  I have a thick beard, low voice and a large frame.  A hairy body fits the rest of the package.

Ian you make me sound downright un-hairy.  I have a natural cross on my chest and that's it for hair covered by anything a short sleeve shirt would cover.
