Topic: Friday the 13th for the NES!

Did anyone else play this game? Being that it's Friday the 13th today, I've been thinking about the game all morning, and came to the conclusion that even though it's terrible, it actually had some clever ideas and concepts for the time. Does anyone else have fond (or awful) memories of this game?

I played a lot of this game, simply from virtue of owning it as part of some weird bulk acquisition my parents pulled off from some acquaintance who was moving or going bankrupt or somesuch. It later turned out that I owned half of the games on a top ten worst NES game list published in Nintendo Power, but had no idea how bad they were at the time (or maybe I did, but just couldn't allow myself to believe that games could actually be that bad).

Anyway, I actually remember Friday the 13th managing to create a creepy atmosphere despite how clunky the mechanics were. Running into Jason when you weren't prepared was quite jarring. You might even call this the first survival horror game!

I actually very much enjoyed this game.  Dodging was a pain without the circlepad.  But with it, I was a beast.

I actually enjoyed it a bit. I think a lot of people hated on it because it was
1) hard as balls
2) really unintuitive (WHERE DO I GO?? WHAT DO I DO??)

Read a guide or something and try to beat it. You might accidentally have fun!

My mother bought the game for me when it came out.  I thought it would be awesome, but I was wrong.  I don't know if I still have it somewhere, but I did revisit it via NESticle, back around 2000.  I edited a lot of the sprites, to make it much more comical.  However, my HDD on that machine died, and I never got around to finishing the game.  I think I am going to try again.
