Data Transfer - What's your experience?
« on: June 24, 2012, 03:56:09 AM »
So, all I've ever done is transfer individual DSiWare titles from one of three DSi units to my 3DS.  Upon doing so, all save data is lost.

This sucks.

Has anyone ever completed a "System Transfer" for the 3DS?  Or individual eShop titles?  Do you still lose your save data in the process?

On an aside, I wonder if Nintendo will throw us a bone when the Wii U comes out.  Currently, there's no way to copy/move some of your save files (Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Animal Crossing)... which is super lame. :(
Just some random guy on the internet who has a different opinion of games than you.

I never did a System Transfer. I considered it because I thought about trading my DSi. I have a few DSiWare titles (namely Shantae: Risky's Revenge) that I wanted to transfer but then I found out that the System Transfer doesn't include save data so if that's what you're asking then yeah, you lose your save data in the process. I haven't tried it since last year but I thought a warning pops up explaining that save data is lost before you do the transfer and asks you if you still want to proceed.

I only transferred a couple "apps" when I transferred info from my DSiXL to my 3DS. I kept my games on the DSiXL because I like the bigger screen, and I didn't want to lose my save data.

I wonder how all of this is going to work with the 3DSXL? I want to transfer everything from my DSiXL and 3DS to the 3DSXL when I get it. I forgot about the saves not transferring the previous time. I hope they do this time.
