Although he is in the newest issue of the print mag, Billy's destiny remains online...

Game Informer Announces the Launch of Game Informer Online

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 12, 2003--Game Informer, America's fastest growing consumer magazine, will be launching a new, companion venture, Game Informer Online during the summer of 2003.

With over 1 million paid magazine subscribers, Game Informer is constructing a site unlike any other, which will become a complimentary asset to the industry's leading publication. At the helm of Game Informer Online, Billy Berghammer serves as Managing Editor. What began as a hobby, four years ago Billy created the PlanetN2000 / Planet GameCube web site, which very quickly became the world's largest independent Nintendo fan site. Billy Berghammer said, "I have always rated Game Informer as one of the best magazines, so when this opportunity presented itself, I had to take it. In addition, I now have the chance to accomplish new and different things online and take my skills to the next level."

Game Informer Editor-In-Chief, Andy McNamara said, "Game Informer Online will augment and add a new dimension to the magazine. Because it will function as an extension of the magazine, our 1 million plus readers will receive additional blowout coverage online, which will include more screenshots, movies, demos, etc. As we continue to feature exclusive content from game publishers, we will now empower the effective combination of Game Informer Magazine, the largest video game publication, and Game Informer Online. Not only does Online add a new dimension to the magazine it equally benefits game publishers who chose Game Informer for their exclusive stories."

About Game Informer

Game Informer Magazine was founded in 1991 as The Final Word On Computer & Video Games. Today Game Informer has achieved more circulation growth more rapidly than any games magazine in history to become North America's largest paid circulation games publication, nearly 100% larger in total paid circulation than its closest competitor.

Cool. I'm currently a subscriber, but I use the GameStop $10 for ten issue subscription. Does that count as a paid subsribtion? I'm looking forward to Billy's work. I have been a reader of the magazine for a while.

I dunno... working online again makes his whole departure seem kind of pointless. He'd be better off here than GameInformer.

There's a key difference.  Although his work at Planet GameCube was very significant, he needs to make a living.  The staff of Planet GameCube brings us all of these goodies with their own free time.

Yes, the $10 thing is a subscription.  When asked to renew they simply refer you to the phone number or one of the GameStop related stores.

So you're telling me in the 6 or whatever years he's been working on PGC, he's been living in his house, with a cat and a huge high definition TV, while recieving no income whatsoever?

And how much could he possibly make running GameInformer Online when he's openly admitted to not being good at HTML (which is one of his excuses for leaving!)

Blargh.

It's his admin skills they want from him, not his HTML. His HD TV and cat and all the other stuff you have heard I think came from his previous job(Radio Station?) and that he lives off Mountain Dew.

Pffh. Toilet paper? What do you think cats are for?

Billy has an HDTV?  That's news to me, and probably Billy, too.  Same with the house ... Billy lives VERY modestly, in a smallish apartment with just his cat.  No house, no HDTV.  I love how people just make up facts when the real ones can't make their point for them.

If you want to pick on someone, Mojo, pick another target.  Billy is beyond reproach.

I'm fairly positive he's posted photographic evidence of an HDTV on the site. That's why I mentioned it... maybe I'm just imagining things. Still though, if I were him I'd just be happy getting free video games and stuff, since that's pretty much the only reason I work in the first place. Yeehah.

I'm 17, and I spend about 80% of my current earnings on video games. I never said they were the only reason someone would work. However, If I got free video games sent to me in the mail, I probably wouldn't work at all at this point in my life.
