Watchdogs is the new hotness
« on: June 05, 2012, 07:50:25 PM »
My favorite game of E3 so far, even beating Pikmin 3.

I hope it makes it to the Wii U. The hacking aspect would be a perfect fit.

Its like Deus Ex mashed with Grand Theft Auto. The Wii U needs a narrative driven game, for sure.

Definitely all for this game coming to Wii U.

You could initiate the hacking procedure, select your target.. and immediately have all of that target's information displayed on the GamePad. Would be hella cool.

Honestly, I'm surprised it wasn't announced for Wii U, especially when Ubisoft is in love with the Wii U and the gameplay seems perfect for it.

This has less to do with NoA and more to do with Ubisoft Montreal.

I think it will get ported to the Wii U.  It may not be day and date with the PS360 though.

Those graphics are insane in the membrane.

I think Watch Dogs will make its way to Wii U.

+1 trillion to Ubisoft for having an Asian NPC without a horribly acted, heavy accent.

To me, it feels like this game is late 2013 at the earliest. It has vaporware written all over it. Really cool demo, but we aren't seeing the final product anytime soon.

Watch_Dogs may be coming to Wii U.

It's coming to PS3 and 360, so there shouldn't be any technical limitations.

I really hated the incredibly dull CT-OS trailer or whatnot that Ubisoft played for what felt like 10 minutes leading into that Watch Dog demo, but I really liked what I saw of that demo.  My only major issue with that demo was that at a point in the demo it became a 3rd person shooter.  Now, I like 3rd person shooters, but this really didn't feel like the kind of game where it felt appropriate for your character to be wielding a gun.  It feels like it'd be more fun to hack sentry turrets or something to do all that for you, Deus Ex-style.
There was a Signature here. It's gone now.

I'm just not that excited for this game like everyone else seems to be.   It had the Deus Ex style but that isn't the part I liked about the game.  I get the feeling it is going to be mostly a third person shooter with the trappings of the cool world they have set up.  The graphics were amazing though but a lot of people are fooling themselves if they think it is going to look like that on 360/ps3.

I probably will be let down by this, it would not be the first time. Rewatching the demo makes the me think the path he took was a little too slick and scripted. I got hyped and then disappointed by the following games this gen:

Bioshock - Promoted as a morally gray free-roaming shooter with interesting enemies, situations and weapons. Turned out to be a good linear FPS with a couple of cool tricks that storywise ran on too long.

Asassin's Creed - Promoted as a gorgeous gigantic Sandbox game in a unique setting. Turned out to be empty and repetitive.

Alan Wake - Promoted as an amazing supernatural mystery game with tons of style set in a fantastic little Pacific Northwest town. Turned out to be 75% running around in the woods shooting the same pseudo zombies over and over while your flashlight ran out of batteries. The combat was so repetitive it felt like a bad rail shooter in parts.

I'm basically with you. Bioshock had an amazing initial E3 reveal that turned out to way oversell the game. It did not feel significantly more sophisticated than Doom 3 to me, and the fact that you were in an underwater city didn't really matter.

Alan Wake I liked for what it was, but compared to the initial teases, it did indeed feel like a corridor shooter.

Assassin's Creed I think got a lot better by the time it got to Brotherhood, but the improvements basically made it into a weird action-RPG/collect-a-thon. It has very little to do with being a stealthy assassin or strategically maneuvering through the environment.

I was impressed by the Watchdog demo, even though a lot of it is obviously scripted, until it hit the shooting part. Clearly that is going to be 50% or more of the game according to the current fashion. If they promised this game would have no guns, then it would be one of the most interesting announcements in years.

Well there is a big difference in proof of concept and what we get.

Thing about Alan Wake was it was still bug and free roaming in a way. You could see other parts of the town and I. The forest so it was one contious thing. The problem is that as gamers we want this big free roaming games but don't think about how it affects the narrative. And Alan wake the thing was supposed to be like watching a TV show so even though they showed off theatrical really cool massive tech demo at the Intel event but tot story reasons it had to be linear. Though I think American nightmare does a better job at how a free roam Alan wake would work. But we might not get that again if they decide to go woh the TV route.
