These live panels at PAX East have become a huge annual tradition for Radio Free Nintendo, and we were delighted to return to Boston for a third Meatspace podcast with a small but devoted audience of listeners... plus the many more of you waiting at home for this recording! *Note: There are a lot of variables in this kind of setting, so please understand that the audio is not perfect, and you may need to adjust the volume from time to time.

Joining the three panel regulars this year is our friend Guillaume Veillette from Negative World, who has acquitted himself admirably on a couple recent podcast episodes and did another great job in person. After some quick intros and a special surprise from James, we revisit last year's Wii U speculation round and follow it up with a more realistic countdown to the system's launch. It's a brief conversation by RFN standards, but we manage to tackle important issues like our most anticipated features, repairing the broken messages of last E3, and how to get third-party publishers to stick around this time. With just over six months before launch, very few websites or podcasts are giving much thought to Wii U... okay, just leave it to us experts!

The second half (or two-thirds, really) is devoted to Q&A, as always. We got some fantastic questions from the live audience, which included both long-time fans and RFN neophytes who just stumbled into the panel. We were pleasantly surprised when the PAX Enforcers let us run 15 minutes over the allotted time, due to the next panel being canceled. All in all, it was a wonderful opportunity to hang out with Nintendo fans and each other, and we hope you'll enjoy this official recording! Jared also took video at the panel.

Yeah Im slowly just writing up the next few articles with my wrap up for Saturday and Sunday (stupid day job lol). But im definitely gonna be including my experience in the RFN Panel.

Am I the only one who thought the audio was pretty shotty in this episode? Maybe its just me, but I couldn't even understand what was being said some of the time. Not to complain and criticize, but it sounds like too much post-processing/noise reduction. Pretty robot-sounding. Great panel none-the-less. Wish I could have been there.

The RFN crew was mostly fine to me, but it sounded like some of the audience members weren't speaking right into the mic (like that (wo)man who was asking about franchises that shouldn't be revived, I couldn't hear what game she said).

If I had signed on to the friggin' PAX East website 2 hours earlier I would have been there - and that would have been awesome.  Hope to see you all in 2013.

Zacko, this is the audio we got from the PAX Enforcers, who recorded it directly from the mixing board. You probably couldn't get a much better recording under the circumstances. That said, it has some echo from the speakers bouncing off the walls and back into our microphones, and there was a high-pitched whine in the original file, probably caused by electrical interference. I did my best to alleviate the latter, and the final episode sounds much better than the raw audio. Still, we are not used to speaking with this kind of microphone, and I think it shows. James did a nice job of projecting into his mic, and Jon did too, but Guillaume and I are often too quiet because we weren't close enough to our mics. It's something I'll try to address at next year's panel. With the audience Q&A, I think you have to expect that kind of variability, but we panelists should do better.

I think this was the best PAX panel you guys have done yet. I at least enjoyed it more than last years one, you all sounded more natural and relaxed I think.

It was a good episode, but did anyone else have problems with the audio volume while listening to it?  Some speakers like Dr. Metts were particularly hard to hear at times.  It sounds like your Mics were considerably further away from you than they are when you do the usual Skype-based show.
