Wii U Compatibility for Epic Mickey 2 Possible?
« on: February 09, 2012, 06:30:04 PM »

Junction Point seem to be looking towards Nintendo's new system.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rumor/29228

A rumour that hints at Junction Point's Epic Mickey 2 having some compatibility with the Wii U was recently posted on Twitter.

The post mentions that the developer is "implementing Wii U support for Epic Mickey 2." It is unclear weather this simply means a Wii version will have some sort of Wii U mode, or if this means they could be working on an actual Wii U version of the game.

While the game hasn't been officially announced, it was revealed in first in a marketing survey and later in a Disney newsletter. The game is expected to come to Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 this fall.

It's always tricky to release a game on a console that is dead but has a huge fan-base vs. a new console that will be desperate for games.

I would ALWAYS pick the new console, because it might be risky but the product will be better and it will be better to be one of the best launch games than best last games.

I agree, but considering the Wii U can play Wii games, it's still alright if they release it for the Wii.

I’ve always thought Epic Mickey was an interesting concept. I never played the first game, but I can see how a new entry could be vastly improved on a new console. When I first heard of the paintbrush technique, it made me think of one of my favorite games on Wii, Okami.  I understand Epic Mickey works differently in that respect. Moving forward, utilization of the Remote Plus and the Wii U controller could unleash some interesting possibilities. I’m certain the people at Disney and Junction Point can come up with something exemplary, let’s hope.

Epic Mickey's biggest problem for me is that you couldn't do everything in a single play through, but nothing really changed in later reruns.

so, I don't have to edit as Much.

@ Ceric: Mate, you're doing it wrong. You could have a vastly different experience when replaying the game. I'm guessing you didn't take the time to experience that (aka try a second play through) or you'd be singing a different tune!

I think this will be a WiiU game, not a Wii game. They are developing a multi console release, so releasing on WiiU will be a lateral port to/from 360 and PS3 instead of a downport or worse a "specially developed" Wii version. I think the WiiU hint means they will implement some tablet control, probably similar to Move and/or Kinect features.

Or maybe they'll do two main versions: a Wii/3DS/PSP(/Vita?) version and a PS3/360/WiiU version.

Also, maybe I'll go back and finish the original game. Can't remember why I put it down.
