THIS is why I am lsing faith in the 'Cube.
« on: May 13, 2003, 10:49:58 AM »
I have reasons which are the following:

1.) I love my cube and its games are awesome BUT man y of the smash titles are rehashes of 64 titles namely Wave Race, Smash Melee, Sunshine need I go on?

2.) Many developers have shown tremendous support for the cube but either all thier titles are availible elsewhere or fade after time. Capcom anyone?

3.) I was so looking forword to Online gaming and thought nintendos great franchises would have a strong showing but they haven't. Kart on only LAN come on!

4.) Again while the titles are awesome and inventive. Zelda notably. Nothing keeps me coming for more like Halo or GTA 3 did and Knights of the old Republic and FF XI will.

I love nintendo and will always look back on the times I spent with NES and Snes with love and pride. But maybe this gamer will wait until nintendo can can fix whatever is holding it back. Screw you guys I am going home.

bah, you'll be back, they always come back. seriously tho, I don't think u should be down on nintendo. true they are not without their flaws, but when u compare their lineup for E3 to ms or sony, I think they will more than hold their own.

I try and try and try and try but I just can't get myself to care that you are losing faith in the cube.  But why do you feel the need to tell everyone this even though there have been tons of other threads started with the same topic.

Too much wrong with points 1, 2, and 3 to warrant comment.

#4 I simply disagree with, especially in the light that 2 of the 3 games listed aren't even out yet.

Like other people here, I will simply leave it at this:  "I don't care."

The way I see it, the only one of your arguments that holds water is the lack of online gaming on the 'cube.  Hopefully this will be rectified soon.

Bink, I might write you a long list of reasons why you are wrong, but I don't see why I should bother.  I know that I would simply be ignored because my post would be too long for you to read, or you simply wouldn't care what I thought.  If I thought for half a second that it would do me any good to say why you are wrong, I would post it.  As it is, I simply cannot be baited into posting some long piece of crap post.  You have obviously made up your mind, and nothing I say will change it.  And I don't see why I should even bother trying to change it.

Truthfully, I see no point to this thread whatsoever.  You don't like your GameCube.  Good for you.

"1.) I love my cube and its games are awesome BUT man y of the smash titles are rehashes of 64 titles namely Wave Race, Smash Melee, Sunshine need I go on?"

Seriously, this shouldn't matter to you if the games are good, and those games are incredible. Besides, there's many, MANY games on the Cube that aren't N64 sequels- nearly my entire GCN selection is made up of non-N64 rehashes. Maybe you're just not looking hard enough.

And SSBM was *hardly* a rehash. If every sequel expanded even half as much on it's predecessor as SSBM did, the word "rehash" would be nonexistant.

"2.) Many developers have shown tremendous support for the cube but either all thier titles are availible elsewhere or fade after time. Capcom anyone?"

Yeah, we get a lot of ports, but we ALSO get a lot of new games. Interesting that you mention Capcom when we're getting no less than 6 or 7 BRAND new titles from them, most of which are exclusive. You've got to get your ideas on track here, man.

"3.) I was so looking forword to Online gaming and thought nintendos great franchises would have a strong showing but they haven't. Kart on only LAN come on!"

That's something that's not exactly going to bring Nintendo down. Yeah, I'd love online gaming, too, but if you're that desperate for it go buy an XBox and quit your whining.

"4.) Again while the titles are awesome and inventive. Zelda notably. Nothing keeps me coming for more like Halo or GTA 3 did and Knights of the old Republic and FF XI will."

Seriously, what's the point of this one. If you like Halo and GTA3 and KOTOR and FFXI, THEN BUY A FRIGGIN' PS2 AND XBOX!!!! Are you crazy? Don't bitch to use how the Gamecube doesn't have the games you love so much and then completely skip the fact that you can buy the consoles they're on. No one's saying you have to own a Gamecube and only a Gamecube. Seriously, if you're THAT worried about Nintendo, sell your Gamecube and get an XBox or PS2. There's no reason not to. You're supposed to play games because they're fun, not because you have to prove you're loyal. You definitely should not hold onto a console that you're not satisfied with- it makes no sense at all. If a PS2 or XBox will fulfill your gaming needs better, by all means BUY one. And if you say you still like your Gamecube, then why are you complaining?

Just because you are 13 doesn't mean you didn't play SNES games back in the day. I'm 15 (16 next month) and I got Donkey Kong Country on release day. Before that I had the older titles like A Link to the Past and Super Mario World..NES on the other, was before my time But some of my friends who couldn't afford an SNES or Genesis bought NES's in the early to mid 90's, so I played a good amount of NES games.

Although Bink's points can be picked apart, you gotta admit that even the most hardcore Nintendo fans are starting to lose faith (me included).  I remember back when Nintendo was "cutting edge" - if there was a new frontier in gaming (like Online play), Nintendo would always be at the forefront regardless of the risks.

Now they're a ridiculously conservative company that seldom strays beyond their established franchises and NEVER makes the first move.  They're no longer a leader, they're a follower, seemingly by choice.  When I read Nintendo's press release crowing about their strategy to "regain market leadership" I laughed out loud.  Who are they kidding?  They'll make money for their shareholders off of Pokemon and GBA, sure, but they will NEVER regain market leadership the way they're going.

Nintendo had better get with the times or they may find themselves struggling for survival one day.

George Harrison said it himself... "Mario will not be shooting Hookers" meaning you know where nintendo stands on the violence issue you definatly won't be seeing it come from the first party. Nintendo is in their "comfort zone" and I for one totally respect that. I never liked GTA anyways so it all works out. I grew up on Nintendo and long as they are around i will continue to purchase their products. And BTW I have PS2 as well just so you know (its collecting dust however)

Someone lock this thread and bain the fool that started this post! There is no reason why a thread such as this one should be open, it is a redundant topic and it hurts Nintendo's image! This thread should be locked ASAP!

Grand Theft Auto III is not the problem and never was.  The problem is that Nintendo is only catering to its established audience instead of making games that will pull everybody in.  They don't make games that are new and fresh any more...I find myself constantly saying, "OK, another Zelda, Mario Kart, Metroid, Star Fox, Mario Golf, Pokemon, F-Zero and Pikmin are great, but when is Nintendo going to throw us all a curve and produce a game with serious themes?"

I realize that Nintendo has to milk these great franchises for all they're worth, but these franchises seem to be the only thing that Nintendo is doing right now.  Pikmin and Animal Crossing?  Niche titles that look like they're meant for 10-year-olds (remember that perception is everything).  Nintendo has no balance in their lineup - every game they turn out is cartoony.  Enough already.  I can't wait for Too Human and Geist, games without the fairy-tale plots and cartoony graphics.

I want something grittier, edgier, but not necessarily more violent or crass.  Eternal Darkness was absolutely excellent...I can't go on enough about it.  Nintendo doesn't seem to realize that today's gamers want something a little deeper than "Rescue the Princess".

this is flame bait....consider it locked.....there is really nothing to worry about if u are a nintendo fan.....its been stated several times that nintendo still owns about 60 percent of the video game market share....its a 10 billion dollar a year industry....do the math.....nintendo makes more money on video games then anyone else. sure sony is trying to put out a hand held now....bla bla bla....i doubt nintendo will stick with the current gameboy for much longer.....when sony releases the psp, nintendo will launch a counter handheld. the new nintendo president is driven to succeed. nintendo will dominate both markets again.....at least thats what i believe.

You summed it it in just 1 or so sentences, you must be genius.

The problem is with the fanboys like Blinx or Binks or whomever is that they whine at anything because they want everything on their platform. They want every single franchise that is popular on any other platform even when they get milked-also (Vice City came out in less than a year right?)

No the GCN will not get the huge PC ports the Xbox will be getting but come on. Choose 1 console or the other, or dare I say buy both consoles and a PC platform and quite your uesless trash whining about Nintendo.

For FVCKS sake. Grow up people.
