i got a little bit of a problem with a disc, its got stuff all over it and its looking like its got a scratch, any advice, what could i clean it off with?

Use a soft cloth (like an old tshirt) and gently wipe the disc from center to edge. Do NOT wipe in a circular motion.
Not sure how to treat a scratch though.

You can get one of those Disc Doctor things, they make GameCube disc adaptors for them.
