Wario Land 3 NFR Cart Value?
« on: June 27, 2011, 03:10:32 PM »
Hey guys,

While I was out today, I picked up a Not For Resale Demo Cart of Wario Land 3 for around $5. I was wondering if it was worth anything more than that, or if it would just be something else to add to my collection.

Thanks

From my experience, Not For Resale games aren't really worth that much. They were used in store displays around the country, and were supposed to be returned to Nintendo who are believed to have destroyed the cartridges once they were no longer in use. I've seen some of the more popular ones such as Zelda: Majora's Mask sell for around $100, but something lesser-known like Wario Land 3 probably wouldn't fetch much. I'd just keep it, especially if you don't already have a copy of Wario Land 3 because that game is awesome.

That's pretty much what I expected. And yeah, I don't have a copy yet, which is why I grabbed it out of the cabinet at Half Price Books the other day. Look forward to putting some time into it soon.

You got it at Half Price Books? That's pretty funny. I'm a little surprised the store would accept a Game Boy Color game, and even more surprised the person selling it didn't think it would be worth anything and sold it on eBay instead. I guarantee you the person received a dime for it, maybe a little more if they traded in some other stuff too.

Majora's Mask is an exception though, because it's different from the released version. The majority of pre-DS games were the same as retail copies.

Ah, that would make some sense. What's different about it? If it did away with the three-day system, it might be a version of the game I could tolerate.

Yeah, I get a lot of my used games at HPB actually. Found Sigma Star Saga there for like $3 a few months ago too.

It's a demo version with only specific parts playable and some of the texturing wasn't finished. Also, the cartridge is different. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4mXEL4lJwo

My HPB accepts pretty much everything. They always have a stock of old games, sometimes boxed Commodore64 floppies too.
