Club Nintendo will be extending their offer for fans to get the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D soundtrack to midnight tonight. To get the CD, members will have to register the game and complete a short survey.

Club Nintendo states "Due to strong demand and technical issues, we are extending this offer. Members who register the game by midnight, Pacific Time on Monday June 20, 2011 will receive the soundtrack CD."

The CD includes 50 tracks from the game, some that have never before released and one fully orchestrated medley specially recorded for the soundtrack.

Nintendo's handling of this soundtrack is just down right horrible. Such a small time limited just excludes anyone that would have ordered the game online (sometimes the only option for many). Due to a Sunday release the earliest one could get it that way would be on Tuesday if they paid for one day shipping as it would only be shipped out that Monday or late Saturday night if one is extremely lucky but it still wouldn't arrive until that Tuesday. This is just Nintendo ensuring that the disc will be uploaded to the Internet by someone and no one is going to feel bad about getting that way. Maybe they don't care since they aren't even selling it for any money. Though it would have been far better if they made it downloadable themselves but that's asking to much and is far to reasonable.

They're doing this because many had problems registering for it. I was one of them. After registering the game, the offer for the CD was supposed to pop up and for many it never did. Nintendo's help lines were busy all day yesterday.

I had the same problem, so I called Nintendo and they sorted it all out. They really do have some of the best customer service.

Lame. Had this preordered since the release date was announced, yet I will miss out on the soundtrack since Amazon won't get it to me on day one...really no valid excuse for that.

I was pleased that NOA actually still has CS reps in the US (yay acronyms!), it was refreshing.
Everyone else who ordered on Amazon, just go to a store and buy it and then return your Amazon copy when it comes.  Kind of a pain in the ass but that way you still get the CD.

Shouldn't be necessary to jump through those hopes. Why should one be out $80+ dollars just so they can get a free soundtrack? It will take time to return the Amazon copy and even then you'd have to pay to have it shipped back because the order wasn't in error. Not worth it. Nintendo should know better and should have planned this better. They know how people buy games. They know what days they release their games outside of Japan. They know how the mail system works. However this is par for the course because Nintendo has been doing a lot of stupid things lately. Especailly NoA. Then again maybe I'm giving to much credit. They most likely don't even give a damn.

I do hope this CD fines it's way to places that those that missed out on it, thanks to Nintendo's poor handling of it, can get a hold of it in the weeks to come.

Not all Walmarts carry every game at launch. Especially when it comes to hand held titles. I was in two (these were the super size 24/hour kind) in somewhat decent sized cities/mall areas Sunday morning running some errands. Neither had the game in stock. Had plenty of Duke Nukem copies but no Zelda at all. Not sold out but none at all. You can not count on Walmart to have copies of games unless it's something massive, at least not at launch. A week or two later sure. As much as we are looking forward to it, Zelda:OoT is not a massive title or launch. Outside of Nintendo forums it isn't seen that way and nor has it been treated that way by NoA from what I can tell.

As for Nintendo "making" you "jump through hoops" - they didn't (aside from the glitch some of us were struck with... even then, it wasn't really a "hoop").  They made the deal VERY clear from the beginning.  Buy the game, be one of the first to register it, get a free LIMITED EDITION soundtrack.  Far from "hoops" - and here's hoping everyone's whining about it doesn't stop Nintendo from doing more promotions in the future.

I can assure you, pretty much every Walmart in the country had copies of this game.  I work in the smallest format Supercenter and we had it.  I was in a hometown store today (a non-grocery Walmart - yes, they still exist) and they had several copies of it.  Now, the store may not have had them out yet... but that's a whole different story.

I used to work at a Wal-Mart (now 7 years ago). At the time, I was the only electronics employee that both cared about video games and cared about doing my job well. So, I always knew when big release games were coming out and made sure to get them on the shelf as soon as possible. If I weren't there, new games could possibly be sitting in the back room for days before getting out on the shelf. To some employees, it's "just another product" and they'll put it out whenever they get the chance. (Our store was often understaffed and it was hard to keep up with everything that needed doing.)

Anyway, just because the product wasn't on the shelf didn't necessarily mean it wasn't in the store.

I was thinking the same thing, but then my inner obsessive-compulsive fanboy took over.  Also, if they actually end up releasing the Wii U in the spring (not likely, I know but anything's possible) it won't be an issue anyway.

I have to laugh a bit at all the people telling others to just "go to the store buy a copy and then return your amazon one"  It would cost me nearly the retail price of the game in gas to drive to the store and back twice to do that..  Yah.. Not happening.  I will just miss out on the offer.   That's not even counting the hours spent driving back and forth.   Then again even as a huge Zelda fan, I kinda half way expected this and am not too disapointed.   Would rather live in my nice house in the middle of the country than live near or in a city to have such "easy access" for such schemes.

Just wanted to clearify that I do not..  It's a great idea for someone who can do that, thing is a lot of people places orders online for a reason.  In my case it's just I live too far from a store for any easy access.  It's actually cheaper for me to pay for overnight shipping than to drive to a store and back.  O_o

I too am disappointed by the extremely short time this deal was open for, and doubly so that the soundtrack is not being offered in Australia. My 3DS is a US import and thus I'd ordered the US version, I even paid extra for priority international courier, next-day delivery. Unfortunately Play-Asia seemed to stall around with "preparing order for shipping" for a full 24 hours before actually sending it, and I'll be getting my copy sometime tomorrow - too little, too late.

All those who ordered online should not have to suffer for this, and what about all the fans who could not afford to buy it on the first day, or whose local retailers had stock delays, or even those who had to wait to receive the game as an upcoming birthday present? They really should have allowed for this deal to remain open for at least a week after launch, it's simply not fair and for the most part nothing more than a cruel tease to most fans.

Add to this that the symphony concert is not going to be playing in Australia as well, it's another swift kick in the teeth as thanks for being a Zelda fan.
Hey insanolord, if you're only ripping the soundtrack and then sticking it on your shelf, I'll happily pay for your hard copy!

Nintendo have had plenty of limited time offers but I cannot recall a single one that limited consumers to a single day.  What's more, nothing was made "very clear" unless I just completely missed that the offer was only good for day one, which I suppose is entirely possible.  I am just going by the precedent that was set with other limited time offers such as the Excitebike download, WiiWare demos, and even bonus coins through Club Nintendo for registering games within the first week or two - none of which expired at midnight on the release day.  I guess I just need to let them know how I feel about it when I finally do get to register the game.  Here's hoping the Four Swords offer is open long enough for people to actually have time to turn their 3DS' on.

I don't think they extended it. Well, technically they did extend it, but it was by one minute. They decided to call it "12:01am Tuesday" instead of "midnight on Monday" to avoid confusion over whether that meant it would end Sunday night or Monday night (it ended Monday night).

Also, it was not a one-day time limit to start with, it was "while supplies last." It just so happened that the supplies lasted all of one day.
