OMG.  Excitebike.  3D.  If you haven't already, then while you're playing try slowly sliding the 3D on and off.  Wow.

Oh, and how the freak do you play this game?  I seem not have not only forgotten the basic mechanics, but also the buttons.  Okay, NES, two button game.  Boost and accel?  But then, can you do both at the same time?

Oh yeah, I know I have 2 sealed copies of that game.   1 is for trading.  But people who collect Amiibos?  They really have a problem!

Hm.  Can't transfer titles that came pre-loaded on the DSi.  No *huge* loss.  Kinda crappy, though.

Finally downloading Mario.

Of interesting note:  Nintendo is not making me pay sales tax!  (I'm in California).

Playing supper Mario land...wth, it's been 20 years since I played this, very different from my memories.  What's with the fireball that bounces just once on the ground and launches straight into space as if it's been punted by a young Clark Kent?  And the bouncing bugs that actually take 2 fireballs to kill, violating the cardinal rule of Mario and his deadly instant-kill fireballs?  And Mario is so floaty, I would swear I was playing the Princess in Mario 2!

It has been awhile since I played it as well, I really do not like the physics/controls in the game. With that said it is better then I remember it, despite the goofy mechanics like the fireball. It is a pretty unique game overall.

Oh.  You can customize all the buttons for ExciteBike in the Options if you haven't found that yet its cool.  Curious why you can't do that on the GB emulator.

Tax is charged when you buy the game.

Quote
Digital Goods Tax Taxes on in-state sales of digital music, books, movies, and ringtones were passed in Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Vermont, Washington, and Wisconsin in 2009.   To date, 18 states collect taxes on digital goods. The etax was initially passed in New Jersey in 2007 and was expanded to Indiana, Nebraska, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Utah in 2008. Additionally, seven states have unilaterally decided to impose the tax through tax administrators with little or no legislative oversight in Arizona, Connecticut, Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, New Mexico, and Texas.   Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, and Oklahoma have specifically exempted digital goods from taxation.

Okay, so I called Big N and they said they follow the law as applicable in all states/counties and that they charge sales tax in most areas for digital goods.

If you've been charged sales tax and don't live in one of these states, you need to call Nintendo and pitch a fit.

Not for the best game ever made ever.  Any other GBC games?  Sure.  Not Link's Awakening.

I bought my 3DS for Link's Awakening alone.  $255 - well worth it. :D

I'm more pissed that I had to buy $10 because with another $5 purchase I would have been like 20 cents short from buying SML last night.

Six dollars for Link's Awakening to me isn't that bad.    It is one of my favorite games.      On another note though, you can download videos of many of the 3DS games at E3 on the E shop right now..  Just downloaded a few myself.

Looks like we are going to see $6 for popular GBC games and probably $5 for lessor GBC games, akin to how Alleyway and Radar Mission are cheaper than Super Mario Land. I wonder, does this mean popular GBA games will be $9 with lessor ones being $8?

Oh man, that would be awesome.  $9 for games like Aria of Sorrow, Zero Mission, Advance Wars, Minish Cap?  Maybe $1 tacked on for Japanese imports like...dare I say...Mother 3?

And regarding our friend Mario...

Oh yes, the physics and the controls are super weird.  Would have demanded my money back after being spoiled by good Mario controls in the intervening years, but the restore point feature/cheat makes it bearable.

If you haven't played that far yet, wait till you get to World 2-3.  OMG.  I totally forgot about that level until it started, and my jaw just dropped.  Why haven't we had that kind of level in any Mario games since?  So freakin' cool.

The whole GB Mario game series Physics and about everything was different then the Mainline but not far enough away to be a totally different series.

$9 for Good GBA games would be somewhat of a steal.  A lot of them go for $10+ still if not more.

Hmm...I also noticed that you enter your U.S. zip code separately and it explicitly says "For Sale Tax purposes."  Not that I'm suggesting one misrepresent their zip code to avoid paying sales tax, but...I wonder if this would work?  Would they check your zip against your CC records when you are adding money to your wallet?  Because I kinda feel bad for people who are paying sales tax for Super Mario Land, since I do not (CA).

On another note, Super Mario Land is crazy.  World 3 is based on Easter Island (like, the real Easter Island) and World 4 is Japan or China, with bouncing ninjas/chinese vampires/whatever who literally cannot die.  I think only World 1 was actually based on the Mushroom kingdom.  Everything else is real world.

I kinda sorta called it.

I knew they would do that after the update. But now they need to follow up with playable demos from the show floor.

What the hell Nintendo? How hard would it have been to let me run DSiWare off the SD card? The fridge cleaning continues!

I'm actually fairly confused to how it decides where to save, some downloads go to system memory and others go sd. not sure why

Okay, first off, don't take that kind of tone on these forums. This isn't the first time you've reacted far too harshly to someone's comment.

Secondly, unless you got a different system update than I did, no you didn't. Either that, or you can't play any of your games. The system clearly says when you copy a DSiWare title from the internal memory to the SD card that you won't be able to play it if it's not on the internal memory. I tested this, and it is indeed true.
