IGN has the box art, though I'm not too pleased at having just Captain Falcon on the front...TWICE. Hopefully this is just a mockup. So what could GX stand for?

OMG hidious...we'll remember it's most likely there for e3 show purposes. The GX is a good question on what it stands for...Im just gonna say "Going X-treme!"

Well, perhaps it has some of the same features as the 64DD's F-Zero-X?

BTW, what were all those extra features?

Well considering that "box art" looks like nothing better than a Photoshop job combining two pieces of artwork together I hope it's just a temporary thing. That's just lazy and boring looking as it is.

Of course the Super Mario Sunshine and Metroid Prime box art was pretty mediocre too so it's possible that this is close to the final box art. A lot of Nintendo's Cube games have had very lazy box art where they obviously just used some of the promotional art they released months earlier.

What's with Captain Falcon's huge golden nipples?
Does that bother anyone else or is it just me? Everytime I saw them SSBM it drove me crazy.

And I'm sure it'll change. It's not a racing game with just Captain Falcon on the cover. Why in the heck is he even singled out?

I think the box art is pretty cool.
the logo is awesome too.

But yeah, i agree, i want the box art to be more akin to F-Zero X. Full of action, crashes, and all the characters.

This is what I'd like to see as box-art for F-Zero GX (from foreground to background):

Ten or so of the vehicles blasting forward down a straight-away, all of which are coming out of a big explosion and the center vehicle being (of course) Captain Falcon while being flanked by Dr. Stewart and Pico. Behind the explosion is a group shot of as many of the drivers as you can fit on the box, standing in a cone-like ( < ) shape, so that one driver is standing in the center, with the rest of the drivers flanking that driver to his left and right. Of course, this would most likely be Falcon, yet again. Have Mute City in the background, with the tallest buildings in the center of the background.

...I don't it'll look that cool though!

I hope Dr. Fox is in it (I think thats his name). Anyway this game looks sweet. I have one question about the F-Zero series I dont know if it has been answered, or even looked at. In the first F-Zero there was a green guy named Piccolo. Now if my memory serves me right, in Dragon Ball Z (no I dont watch the show, I checked out to see what its about) theres a green guy that looks just like him with the same name! Is this the same guy or what?

In F-Zero for the SNES, the green character you speak of is named Pico. Yeah, there are SOME similarities (the green skin... ok, that's about it), but no, they are certainly not related in any way.

Wha...? I never even noticed that......what the heck has been on your mind Matthew

Anyway Matthew's strange observations aside.....the box art for F-Zero GX just flat out sucks. I mean with all the cool vehicles in F-Zero.....we get a lame and huge picture of Capt. Falcon with a smaller picture of him in his vehicle. What gives Nintendo....jeez its bad enough they botched Metriod Prime's box art....whats next? A Mario 128 cover with just a fireflower on the cover?

i think nintendo should let someone at sega design the boxart.. cuz clearly nintendo's designers have no idea what the hell they're doing... how does such a slick looking game have such crappy box art? if someone goes to a retailer cold and see's this on the shelf, they're not gonna pick it up to check it out... nintendo needs to do something about their design team for sure.

regardless, i can't wait for the game.. and GX stands for "GREAT XTREME!" try saying that in a japanese accent.. it sounds cool!!! .... yeah.

Well it was originally being called F-Zero GC. Maybe they decided to then go to F-Zero X GC -> F-zero XG ... which is too close to Xtreme G so they swap the letters and *bang* you get F-Zero GX.. maybe the arcade one will be F-Zero AX.

I pose to you all this question:
What does the 'X' in F-Zero X stand for?
I think that if we never know the answer to this question, so will it be with F-Zero GX.

It can't be '5', since F-Zero X is the second game in the series, and F-Zero GX is the fourth.
So what can it possibly mean? Only E3 can tell. If not, then the answer will remain in the bowels of Sega and Nintendo.

That just sounds so funny. I wonder if there's anyone out there who thinks that SSB is all original characters and Nintendo has been making all these spinoff games using SSB characters. "Hey that Mario guy has his own game. COOL."
