It's almost like they knew the 3DS was coming, haha.

I also purchased a universal charger from Gamestop that can go USB to SP/DS/3DS. Kinda handy when you are at a computer lab and no free outlets nearby.

Does anyone know of a decent hard case for games? Gamestop sold this nice little folders for DS games, but the little tab doesn't jive. Maybe that's the true reason for them: Game Case Sales! If I'm not back next week, NOA agents took m--*gets hit with a tranq dart*...

Surprised no one has mentioned the HORI accessories, which always tend to be pretty good quality.

I picked up a screen protector, which is very nice, but for me was as complex as brain surgery to attach.

And this hardcase, which fits the 3DS, some earbuds, and 3 games, but can still fit in a jacket pocket.

And this shell, which hasn't arrived yet, because Amazon's stupid.

Man, I thought I was the only! I ended up ruining my top screen protector just trying to figure out how get rid of the sticker residue from the tab used to apply it. Turns out the actual protector was underneath and I scratched the crap out of it

. The directions were not helpful at all. Then came the actual placement on the screen for the bottom one and making sure there weren't any air bubbles and such.

Oh, my personal hell would be a tower of DS's and screen protectors to put on them. I hate that I have one little rogue fuzz under the screen. I was impatient and didn't want to wait til work the next day. I work in a clean room, so I made sure to put my DS lite's protectors on there.

It's the invisible shield for the 3DS. I have one for my cell phone and it's amazing! The application involves a liquid that you spray on the protector and on your fingers to allow you to handle it without smudges. Over the next day or so, the bubbles and left over liquid work themselves out. What's nice is that if you happen to get a hair or fuzz in there, there is no sticky residue, you just need more of the spray and you can reapply it. I two-day'd mine (total: $33). This one is the full body shield, so it'll cover the majority of the system, leaving openings for the cameras and speakers and whatnot. Could be the greatest thing ever... however...

I do notice that my touch-phone can be hard to slide my thumb on if I just washed my hands. This may interfere with the touch screen operating if you're playing a particularly humid environment or you've just washed up for dinner :/... If that's the case, then you may still be looking for a decent screen protector while encasing the rest of the system in this stuff, but that may also cause the system to grip your pocket liner, giving you that nice early 90's look when you take out your system. It's perfect for scratch resistance, but next to zilch on shock absorption. I'll let you guys know in a few days.

As for that hardcase, it looks a little too bulky for my tastes. The microsuede is probably the bulkiest I'll go. The shell looks decent, but it looks like it leaves the hinge exposed.

I bought this accessory set last night on Amazon, mainly just because I wanted the game cards case that comes with it. The USB charging cable with attachments for AC and Car charging is cool, but for that price I'm not expecting great quality.

The rubber shell looks cool. I don't think the button covers would last that long though. Skinomi is putting out a protector similar to Invisible shield but themed. They have silver and black carbon fiber designs as well as a clear and wood designs. Could be fun... I have no experience with that brand.

So I just cancelled my order in Invisible Shield. I'm thinking of getting two different colors of phantom skinz and mixing up the various pieces. The idea is possibly getting carbon fiber black or white on the outside and candy apple red or blue on the inside. Thoughts?

I do like the color of my black 3DS, but I would like to have some uniqueness to it. The carbon fiber skins do add some grippage to the system, so that could be a plus.

UPDATE: Bought the carbon fiber black and lime green chromatic phantom skinz. I'm going to use the green on the inside and carbon fiber black on the outside. They're in stock and actually shipped out today, so I should have them by the week's end. If you put in the coupon code spring20, you get 20% off, so that's handy at countering priority shipping.

A couple of notes on the skins:

--The skins are only for the outside of the system. They have an internet deal right now that if you buy the skins, they send two sets of screen protectors. Those are clear matte skins that apply on the inside. The one for the top is nice because it covers the whole top rather than just the screen. These skins require warm water to apply though, putting your system in drying mode for a few hours.

--Application was rather stressful if you're the kind of guy that wants things centered and perfect. The skin is designed to fill the majority of the space, but not completely cover the system. You'll have a bit of a border exposing the system around each piece. Something to keep in mind if you're choosing colors. The tabs that go around corners fit well, but they recommend taking a hairdryer to it to seal the deal.

--The silver on the back will not be covered.

--Some labels like the volume and wireless labels get covered. Most notably is the underside where the whole serial code gets covered.

--One cool detail of the carbon fiber components is that the pattern lines up on each piece, adding a sense of unity to the design.

--The carbon fiber also adds texture to the outside. This is cool, but oils and whatnot can now get trapped easier.

--Overall, the skins add a sharpness to the curvy exterior of the system, making feel like a new system. We'll see how this lasts as it goes into the microsuede case constantly. Hopefully no orange peeling.

--Still fits in the cradle. Plus there.

I'll be putting the opposite set of skins on my friend's 3DS and will upload pics when I get that done.

I actually like that a lot, it looks pretty slick

. I'm pretty happy with my black 3DS, but if I was cool, I'd definitely try to apply one of these skins. How hard is it to get off? My only concern is that it covers the serial code and in the distant future I may end up trading in my 3DS (like all my other past DS systems) towards the purchase of a new one.

The skins are made for a one time stick. You can peel them off, but you'll lose the skin. You can always avoid putting a skin on the bottom to leave the serial codes exposed.

I was stupid today and applied the screen protectors which require water to apply. I got some in the speakers and I'm getting an error when I load the camera and the battery isn't holding a charge. I'll probably have to send mine in for repairs

Hopefully I can get around the warranty void due to water damage. It did rain yesterday and can get kinda humid in Missouri

This set arrived, and I have to say I'm impressed. I didn't go in with very high expectations, but the set surprised me. The game card case is as good as I'd hoped, and the USB/AC/Car charging cable feels well-made, and at least the USB part works great. I'd never use the zippered case to carry my 3DS, but it fits all the pieces of the charging cable nicely, so I'll get some use out of it that way. There are a few things that I'll never use, like the plastic shell and the rubber skin, or the non-telescoping tiny styli, but this set is a great deal at $13.

I think the adapter would be worth $13 itself. The USB component's nice. Get a data cord for your cell phone and you can charge it with that too.

I think it's a bit odd that the set comes with so many cases. Packs like this usually come with everything intended to be used all together. How sturdy is the game case? Do you feel like your games can survive being a book bag?

The game case is very similar to one for DS games that I've owned for a long time, and I've used that one in various bags and in my pockets many times and it's still in great condition. They look and feel almost the same, except for the extra space between the games on the 3DS one to accomodate the little tabs on the corner.

In terms of DS cases, I think 6/pg is the biggest. I know Hori makes a similar 24 case that's also 6 per page.

So it turns out that old-school photo slide pages are about the right size and hold 20 per binder page (4x5). There's an office supply shop in town that's closing down that's selling them for 45 cents/page and then 50% off, so I picked up a bunch.
